What are they like, seens as there's 25% off until the end of March and they're reasonably light (225g) is there any reason not to get one?

Not really the response I was looking for.

I've had plenty of items from them with no issues, what I'm after is opinions on the post not some disgruntled tirade on how they took more than a week to warranty a set of wheels

I bought a layback one in 27.2 and a shim to try and introduce a bit of give to my road bike.

Seems very well made, the bolts are accessible and it hasn't broken in 3 rides. Doesn't feel that light, but, I didn't weigh it, not really my thing.

If you do buy one, don't do what I did and accidentally sit on it without properly tightening the clamp allowing it to slide down and skin one side of the graphics off. ๐Ÿ™„

Ooops, I did have in mind masking off the red & white and painting them Orange & Blue to match my KTM frame ๐Ÿ˜ณ They're considerably cheaper than a Easton EC70 and weigh about the same

muddy9mtb - the superstar bashing threads have been done to death and we are all bored of reading them. I have had nothing but good quality components from superstar and the one time I did contact them, their customer service was excellent.
The OP asked a question on a specific component and your reply is irrelevant.

Whilst he may have not been that nice in his reply his opinion is as valid as any other

its does seem that Superstar have stopped beta testing by selling it and dealing with issues and have massively improved their QC on items

I still tend to avoid them as I recall what fruit was like on here

^This, pretty much. I'm happy to buy stuff if the bloke selling it comes across well (LoCo) and the inverse is also a truism.

I've heard a few too many stories about SS's attitude towards their customers for my liking. Plus, the logos are shit.

I never really heard of them until the certain few got on the SS bashing band wagon here, pretty much all Clan McTJ wasn't it?
Can't imagine how many extra customers SS gained because of the publicity that little spat gave them ๐Ÿ˜†

I avoided SSC for a while after the astroturfing 'scandal' but am back with them now and have had no issues with chainrings, brake pads or service. IMO they've (well, Fruit) learned their lesson.

It was a tiny (and statistically invalid) vocal minority, pretty much just on this site, that made lots of noise and generally behaved like dickheads towards SS.

The "fruit" thing is before my time on here, but from al I have read since, it boiled down to a young (at the time) lad making a bit of an error of judgement in how he did some things. Nobody can claim to have not done some stupid things when young.

Fact is, they sell shitloads of gear, saw an infographic of 30k+ wheelsets sold, so god knows how much other stuff they have shifted. By definition, some failures are inevitable when that kind of volume is involved. But the vocal and very malicious minority on here went well above and beyond.

For clarity, I have no association with SS - I have bought and used a number of their products (wheels, bars, seatposts, saddles, chain guides and hose kits & pads) over the last 4 years or so, and only ever been happy with them.

It's old news, old grudges, from old men. Ignore them. Buy the seatpost.

Well the errors ranged form selling substandard tat whilst blaming users for any problems that arose with any item [ you always fitted it wrong] right through [ and this was 3-5 years later] using fake log on here to promote his wares and slag of competitors- astroturfing.

Yes we have all made mistakes but he also showed the content of his character over the years with his postings and his actions.

It would not surprise me if he was still here saying things like what are being said on here - ie slagging off posters, saying they are insignificant etc and basically blaming the customers [ sorry old moaning men talking about old news] when they complain about sub standard products.

As i said it has improved massively in quality but I still tend to avoid for the reasons mentioned.

when in reality it's only the grudgeonly old men that are still here saying the same old things, well except for the one's that got themselves banned ๐Ÿ˜†

Be fair Fruit had more than one account banned ๐Ÿ˜‰

I dont think SS gets the response it did in the past as the view is generally the stuff is ok [ and better than it was] but customer service can be variable.

Not really sure why you wish to just interact via goads whilst [ oh the ironing] suggesting others are the moaners.

It wasn't just on this site.

All the negative views are just as valid as yours; whether you like it or not.

Categorically untrue. Neil was (by quite some distance) the biggest dickhead involved.

Complete nonsense. Hiding your identity, slagging off other peoples kit whilst offering a glowing review and recommendation of your own is more than an error of judgement, it was plain dishonesty at best.

Scott chegg - note I said "statistically invalid". In other words, related to data and ratios, not some intangible like peoples rights to opinions or similar bullshit.

Anyway back on topic. Sure the sratpost will be fine.

Steve_b77 you'll be fine. Absolutely no reason not to buy it, especially with the extra discount.
