Just about to push the button on a set of superstar road wheels and was planning on getting the Elite 24 but are the Pacenti SL23 wheels worth the extra? Is the Icon ultra hub much better than the Icon?
I swapped a few months ago I do find the SL23 ride a little nicer and is stiffer and if your 11sp you need the ultra hub
I ordered a set on wednesday
Delivered an empty box yesterday, er no it was not those wheels are so friggin light.
Weighed the wheels on my Defy before swapping the tyres and cassette over and with a change of QR I have dropped 650g.
The build quality is superb all spokes are of even tension and there is almost NO run out and the wheels are perfectly true.
The Volta hubs are so smooth its unreal
Negatives of these wheels Conti GP tyres are a real BITCH to fit on the Pacenti rims I never need tyre levers till now.
Once the rain stops I will give them a ride today but I am one very happy bunny
BTW if you use the code PLUS10 you get an extra 10% off
if you're buying new wheels wouldn't you want to "future proof" by getting 11spd-compatible hubs? 10spd-only are discounted for a reason, so if there's a difference in the hubs I'd pay more for the 11 spd compatible.
another code to try is ROADWHEEL10
Both wheel sets use the new Ultra hub so both 11 speed ready. With the discount code it brings a set of Elite 24 to £166 which seems a bargain to me so about to push order, couldn't justify the extra on just the rims for the Pacenti
I have used my Pacenti rimmed Volta wheels today WOW fast as fugg and I saved 650g over the weight of the original wheels on my defy.
Either way I hope you are as happy as I am with mine just one word about the build quality it's PERFECT
I fit conti tyre tl pacenti rims without levers. I find it verh easy it is all down to the technique you have. I should do a video and put it on you tube as you do not need tin tubeless rim tape. I pot velox cloth tape on and have no issue getting tyres on these rim. Tell a lie there is on that does not fit even with tyre levers, the challange strada bianca but it not exactly common.
The technique i mean is chasing the slack around the rim to the tight spot you need to see it but once you have and practiced you will never have trouble again. Justridingalong are just pandering to those who dont want to learn. If you are near suffolk i will show you for free I run a shop and was showing a customer on saturday.
Thanks for the offer but the tyres are on, to be fair it took me longer to find the levers than to fit the tyres.
I have never had an issue in the past and I have not had to use the levers before
