Is it worth getting? I need a proper chain device (without a bashguard) for my hardtail that I use for both DH and xc.

Having said that, the E13 equivalents don't seem to be that much more.

It will be ok on a HT but an e13 or Gamut would be better.

They are excellent IF.........they fit your bike easily.
I had problems with chain alignment on a BB-mounted version so got a Blackspire instead. Spot on otherwise..

Will do pics if interested. Has the taco bashguard so no need for a chainring moutned bashguard.

They are okay but pretty big and bulky. Mine has been adjusted with a hacksaw and had some rubber rollers put in to keep it quiet.

I'm already using the Superstar single-ring guide so I would have thought that the Plasma would work as well.

Anyway, I needed to order it so I did. I guess I'll see when it turns up whether it works or not.

If you see a SS Plasma chain device in the classifieds in the next few days you'll know it hasn't worked 😀

My Mrs has one on her Sunday after she wrecked the Gamut she had on there, they were on offer at half that price 12 months or so ago - she was skint and needed something quick for a race that weekend.

For £25, it was pretty good to be fair. It's clearly not as well finished as an E13, but then it was a fifth of the price.

It's quite noisy, but it was easy enough to set up. For £50 I wouldn't bother to be fair, i'd spend a bit more on a second hand E13 or a similar amount on a second hand Gamut.

Oh well, as it is on it's way now, I guess I'll have to give it a try. I need it for this weekend, hence why I was in a bit of a rush.

Mine is fine... Slightly prefer my Gamut- easier to set up and feels more solid while being lighter- but then, it cost quite a lot more.

Good to hear. The reviews I've read have been quite favourable. I guess I 'll find out when it arrives and fit it.

Just thought I'd give an update: I fitted the device last night and it was actully very easy to fit. The only issue was that I had to file down my granny ring tabs on my crankset, but then again you smetimes have to do this with E13 ones as well.

I went and used the bike today and I have to say I am very impressed: It is very quiet, and not once did the chain even come close to coming off. I would say that it works just as well as my E13 device on my full-suss.

I would also go as far to say that the quality is not far off more expensive versions as well, so at the moment I am pretty happy with my purchase.

Oh, and th black and red colour looks pretty cool on my white hardtail :0)
