Anyone tried the Kevlar disc pads that Superstar are selling?

I rate both the organic & the sintered but not tried the Kevs.

Very impressed with the performance, although the front brake has started making a fairly awful 'turkey gobbling' type noise.

Wouldn't let them sponsor the BBB if they weren't good. Talk to Fruit and he can bore you to death with the technical details. He won't sell sh1t

Good stuff, speaking as said mate of Dave's, I indeed used them for the 1st time on the passportes du soleil, which was c 90km of largely downhill in the alps, and since I've returned, about 3 peaks rides and a big Calderdale day out later, they look like new. Let's say early indications are v positive

Are they good for general XC riding? I am light on brakes, but something that works as well as organic but lasts longer sounds perfect for me... I'll probably get some to see how they work. Superstar pads have always worked well for me anyway...

To be fair to fruit, its been a while since anyone has bleated about his brake pads.

Been using their pads in my Heckler now for about 9 months they've performed very well and considering I got them on offer 4 pairs for £20 I really can't complain.

Think I bought sintered though.

FWIW, my sintered ss pads have been on the bike nearly a year (peak district riding mainly), and are still fine - in fact loads of life left when i checked them last night. bike has been used 4ish times a week, 20miles ish per ride.

EDIT - and they are more powerful and longer lasting than the original Avid pads. same method of bedding in.

Do the Kevlars have a similar power & feel to organic or sintered?

Oh, and has anyone had probs with kevlar pads coming off their backings? (had this happen with one sintered SS pad, but all others OK)

I will be trying the kevlar ones for my xt brakes when i need a new pair next as i find the sintered ones to hard when it is anything remotly dry though they seem alright on my avids so far.

my sintered ones came off the backing last week, so they still have issues, and their customer service is still quite shabby, a riduing buddy had one of their qr's bend on him and it was his fault for not using them properly...

if your bending QRs you cant be doing them up tight enough and they are moving! All they do is clamp, they dont do anything else unless they are installed loose.

Never had a problem with them to be honest.

what if you tighten them up too much then? That would stess the ends too much?

...and didn't Brant say from the weight of the QR and some sort of calculations they would be too stretchy? Still like the hubs and pads 😉

I’m having really problems with these in the wet.

They don’t grip\stop the rotor, for me, I found them worse than Formula & Kool Stop.

I’m sending them back.

BTW they're excellent in the dry!
