[#10457168]

Morning all,

I've got a superstar fuel hub on my flow ztr rim about to go on to my new solaris mk2 frame. At present I have 2 adaptors (caps) to allow 135mm qr (using a 5mm internal skewer) or I can switch out the cap to use a 142 x 12mm axle.
The drop out on the solaris is 10mm and I was hoping to upgrade the 5mm skewer to a 10mm superstar / dt swiss 10mm qr rear axle.
Any ideas on how I can go about this as the SS website doesn't seem to have caps available for this fitment but I have tracked a generic ebay adaptor: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152698775141 which may or may not work?

Help would be really appreciated and there is hope that im over thinking and complicating this question. Also, having recently purchased a new freehub I would rather not seek an alternative hub replacement...

Look forward to hearing your comments, Cheers!

To be honest it makes little difference over QR. But if you must you can just stick a 10.1 drill through your QR end caps....

Instead of putting the load on the stubs it goes on the axle. Same same but different

Take the end caps off and see if the axle is hollow. On Hope hubs you could just run a 10mm drill bit through the QR end caps to convert them.

Or failing all that, could the 5mm qr opening be drilled out to 10mm to accept the thru axle? (Assuming the internals will accept up to 12mm)? Apologies this is frustrating me and no doubt the whole forum with my lack of knowledge!

Thanks for your comment Neil, do superstar do any caps which are compatible to allow the 10mm axle? Maybe for a different model that will fit the fuel rear hub?

I think I have 10mm caps on my Tesla Evo hub which is now bolt thru.I dont know if that would work
Since superstar are getting rid of their fuel hubs etc I am worried about getting more caps when I change bikes
Id ask them on their FB page what will fit

We don’t do 10mm any more as it appears to have died a death for years now. It’s a bit pointless in my opinion but as has been said 3 times above you can drill out QR end caps if you really want. We get asked by a handful of customers but 0.05% of sales doesn’t justify buying yet another option to go in the warehouse to not sell for a decade.

We are clearing out all the old hubs and parts. Unlike most other brands we always bought stacks of extra spares to look after our customers so I’m sure we will have bits for a long while yet. When they sell out we can’t get any more as we no longer buy from these factories plus you have to buy hundreds minimum order.

Everything moving forward will be made in-house in the uk so we are in control of design and spares. V6 and 2Road are our first UK products and I always try and make future parts reverse compatible where possible when I design it myself.
