Anyone running superstar Eagle jockey wheels on gx or x01?
What do you think of them? Bearing life good? Any ill effects shifting quality etc or increased drive train noise?
I'm going for Sram NX eagle jockey wheels next time my GX bearings seize up.
The NX has a bushing like Shimano that never seizes up. Why they put a bearing there I have no idea.
I have some but only had a few rides on them so far. It shifts well, slightly more noise but that doesn't bother me. They feel more solid in the hand than the Sram ones, I feel it's less likely to develop side to side play. Time will tell if they last though.
I've had two sets of plastic ones fault taking the mech with it. Luckily both warranty. The second had the latest sram jockey wheels on it. I've tried the first set uberbike made but they didn't last very long before the bearings failed. I like the look of the superstar ones as they also have the ridge on them to stop the chain wedging between it and the cage
The SS ones still have bearings though. No better or worse than the Uber. Cheaper though.
There probably is a lot to be said for fitting the NX ones in truth. That's what I'll be doing if I ever have issues. So far so good on the mk2 GX ones though.
Surley bearing life between the two brands comes down to what bears they each fit? If one fitted bearings the cheapest they Could get hold of and the other has somthing quality like skf with actual grease in there will be a dramatic difference in life of that bearing. I cant tell you what uber have fitted as I never looked
