My friend has just bought a nearly new Boardman MTB with a 2x10 x7 setup. The shifter is unbelievably stiff when shifting up the the biggest ring.
I'm normally pretty good at setting up bikes but I always run Shimano so no experience of SRAM (but front mechs are so simple!!!!). The shifter seems fine (works smoothly when tension is released from the cable) and the mech seems fine also.
At first I thought cable routing but that all seems fine. It pulls from the bottom and should be a directly clamped (not looped around for top pull etc) - Iv studied SRAM diagrams. the cable passes under the BB shell ok with no kinks or tight bends.
Normally I would blame grotty cables but Its just too new and far too stiff for that - you almost need 2 hands.
Well I'm stumped so if anyone has any ideas......?
anyone.......?
How's down shifting?
I've a spare x7 front mech for sale if he needs it? £8? 😆
My son has same issue with his SRAM X5 front mech from new on a Carrera Fury.
Saw this thread & hoped for a solution!
At least it's not just your SRAM front mech.
I too have checked cable/housing, no joy.
Only action is to keep it well lubed (doesn't really help).
