Just had the sunrace cassette off my specialised Fatboy. It's done about 8 rides only.

The larger sprockets are in two groups of 3, and the smallest two have built in spacers so have a reasonably wide base. However sprockets 3 & 4 are simple flat ones, and have done quite a good job of chewing the freehub already. It was a right bugger to get the larger sprockets off, requiring a fair bit of levering with screwdrivers. Don't think I've bent anything though.

Otherwise its been great - good range of gears, not massive jumps between gears, and smooth precise shifting.

The black anodising doesn't last long though!

Probably more to do with the hub than the cassette. Aluminium Freehub?

I've known of two instances where Sunrace 8 speed cassettes were causing shifting problems after only about 500 miles, so as a shop we didn't buy again....but I have also known that to happen with 9 speed Sram cassettes more recently......and we are not very keen on buying them again now.

Be nice to have some longer term feedback on the new wider range Sunrace 10 spd.

Have had the same thoughts for years. Bikes come in to get repaired, hopefully shifting better than when they were new. Fitting those just doesn't help the shift compared to shimano. Doesn't help the shop either. The price you can get great shifting 8 or9 speed shimano cassettes for these days, you'd really have to not care about your shop to fit 2nd best. I think one of the problems comes down to the mechanics getting asked 'well does it work or not?' The answer being 'yes, it shifts but its shit' With the reply being 'fine, get it out the door'... followed by 'well if its shit now, what's it gonna be like in a month?!'

Fix it proper with the best parts, get return customers.

When I bought my second-hand Marin I took the sram cassette off the alloy hope hub and was pretty shocked at the damage.

Put a Shimano XT cassette on strsight away.

Now running a GX 11 cassette on a hope XD driver. Will see how that works out! Time will tell. Usually prefer Shimano cassettes in the past.

Some mid range alloy SRAM cassette I had a while back (PG something or other) all machined and light looking! I had to constantly hammer the rings flat they used to bend about every other ride.

Sunrace MX3 11-40t at the moment and it's noisy (metal on metal) on the 36t cog for some reason, shifts and pedals perfectly, time will tell.
