Jerry builders,

Cowboy builders,

Botch it and scarper,

Sometimes no matter how good a job you do, and how well you try to please the customer, you will be called one of the above, sadly.

Just beat them to it, and best of luck.

Singletrack builders,

Sproket building

Singlespeed builders,

Cammelback builders,

Chain reaction builders,

Enduro building,

You're not going to get an sensible answer from me Marcus but while you're there, would you be able to repoint a wall for me? Its a garden boundary wall at the back of our house, about 6ft high, about 15ft long. Needs some TLC... mortar needs pulling out and redoing.

Any idea of rough cost? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I always thought "RE:Build" would be catchy. Then you can branch out to re:plaster / re:roof / re:paint. Would be better if your initials were R.E

You're not allowed then. Although technically i'm not in the peaks. I could ride there in 3 mins though.

Remember, you can call your company something like Building Company (No1) Limited, but use a separate trading name "Flash Bob's Erection Services".

But, to make life easier - mainly for the rare occasion you're not paid in cash (nudge, nudge, etc) - Just come up with a name and register it (assuming it's not already taken - check on Companies House).

Urban Space Men
Suburban Space Men
Rural Space Men

(as appropriate)

tbh, for google purposes (if you're going down that route) then what you do and where you do it in a company name is a 'good thing'.

So anything with 'Builders' and a location, really.

There is a building company back home in wales that has the strap-line "our erection is your protection". Love it, think he's also a part-time gigolo.

Maybe you could have it on your van, and then just have your registered name in small print below it? Because then if I ever saw your van, I could say "that name was my idea." like in the windows 7 adverts.

If you are serious then you really need to sit down and do this properly. I've been in the design industry for over 13 years (branding and corporate ident programmes of SME and multi-nationals) and I've seen (and had to work with) some pretty dismal business names in the past.

Sit down and think about who your target audience are, what are THEY into? What are THEIR tastes? Don't try to be all-things-to-all-people and DO NOT choose based on YOUR tastes alone. Do this properly and betters still, hire a professional -- it really doesn't have to cost the earth (and certainly cheaper than doing it two or three times over because you messed up the first time).

PM me if you want some advice. No charge.

How about Windows 7 (Doors 2, Roof 1)

or my unfavourite cringeworthy one - an estate agent in Bingley was called Roper.

Because it's "THE name in pROPERty", according to his adverts.
