Ha I noticed you trying to split it Ivan on that last run in before the snakey bit, I kept getting towards the back and having to power to catch on...was good fun.

No idea where zilog's group came from there, I'm sure you guys were over 30 seconds down with about 1k to go then at 700m you swamped the three of us lost in the middle.

I lost touch with the front group on the down slope from the viaduct and that was my race done really.

By heck can I tell I've done nothing but eat and drink for a week.

Thanks Robbo (and Dr P) for stepping in at the start. Enjoyed it in a painful sort of way, managed to avoid the split at the viaduct and then lost a couple of lengths at the end of the riverside bends and had to tail in behind the group. Really good idea to get us all together!

Was caught wrong side of the split right at start and had to put out close to 6 watts per kilo for a min odd to bridge the gap. By the time I got back on I was broken and for the next 20 min just hung on for dear life.

When is the hilly climb as flat races ruin me..

Found my trainer issue, had checked the calibration and the Tacx app kept hold of the connection so the computer couldn't connect.
Grr.

Well done for organising that Robbo.

Hesitated at start, then ended up on my own for most of it. Good fun, roll on the next one.

Robbo - Thanks for organising the event. Really enjoyed it and that’s the most Watts I’ve put out on Zwift, was definitely at my limit.

Great ride everyone, I could tell that I've not been racing recently though, too much slow and steady distance and hill climbing rides.

I knew the split was coming at the aqueduct, tried to go with it but just didn't quite have the legs to go and watched zilog and his group just edge away. Got in the group with Weeksy, Oop North and Ivan. I was blowing a bit by the end not helped by Ivan's efforts went to give it a proper dig at the end and the finish line was hiding round the corner.

Ooooft some tough handicaps in there.

Well done all, especially the people who rarely race, that will have been a baptism of fire.

Great race, tried to stick with lead as long as possible but it was in vain as it gapped the group with Weeksy in so I was happy to just about catch that one and try to recover before the viaduct.

guessed somebody would split the group at that point so decided I may as well give it a bash. opened a gap and caught the guy in front but also dragged a couple of others over the top and the we formed a group. Tough for anybody to get away but a couple tried up the final few rollers before the last descent but I think the numbers are it too difficult.

I thought I managed to time a sprint well for a change just drafting in behind a few and then as I started to try and get by for the line we hit the earlier finish.

Really tough, so close to dropping at times but just about managed to recover. heart rate over 170 after a couple of miles and mid 180s up the rollers. Got a slight FTP increase apparently but doubt I could manage that for 50mins or hour.

nice one chaps.

Great first race thanks Robbo for organising and DrP for stepping in to get us started. Have bumped my FTP to 225 so a result for me, bigger handicap though i suppose.

Was settling in here and just holding on too a wheel best I could.

Here were my nemesiseses....

Every little hill they kicked, so I did too... Was like a painful rollercoaster.Lol Bloody great when you can just about hold on to another wheel/ wheels and you have your own personal battle going on.

I was absolutely oblivious to the outside world. I was IN that ruddy tv screen!

Thanks robbo, gutted for you that the PC borked but massive thanks for organising! Cheers DrP for giving us the GO! too.😁

Great race.

Annoyingly my connection dropped at the start, which put me 40 seconds back, rode my boobs off to catch a few. Got the fastest time on first sprint, then with 5k to go lost connection totally. Fuming doesn't cover it!

But good fun none the less!

That was great! (Well, obviously completely ruined by Robbo 😉, but other than that, great - well done DrP!). 9th on the road, god knows where when my 9 min handicap is applied! Left sprint far too late, think blue barrier was closer than expected. Thanks for organising Robbo!

Just looked at the results table and it looks like I've been missed off. On the zwift companion app I came joint 5th on the road so hopefully I can get some points on the board in preparation for next week's climbers race!

Yup, and thanks from me too. Hopefully I can learn to be ready at the start for the next one. When countdown stopped everyone scooted off while I was still stationary. Pushed to catch up, just as I got there and slowed everyone powered off. Chased again but never got near. Enjoyed it all anyway. Rode with Mr Stumpy1 the whole way (Svlad a.k.a. Steve).

18th with handicap. I’ll take that. Now, just need to get rid of some of my mass for next week. So, do the heavier riders get less of a handicap in Innsbruck? I’m going to be in trouble 😓 💦

@tpbiker you are right sorry! Updated now which means Phil has lost his 1 point! 🙂

Yep a nice hilly one for the climbers next week! Heavier riders will have less of a handicap yes. Will publish handicap times over the next couple of days. Next weeks race will be a bit longer due to the climb.

Doesn't help the climbers that the climb is bang in middle of the route! No point in trying to smash the climb as unless there is a group of us id be caught before the bottom of the descent!

Yep, and it's the slow way up and quick way down too on that course.

I missed the start. Was backing off to wait for Robbo to catch the group and was then way off the pack. I tried to catch a group once we got running, but was gonna kill myself and didn't seem to be catching.

I ended up riding with S.Ross pretty much all the way round and I think I pipped him on the line.

This event shows my race tactics/experience are virtually zero!
Great ride though!

Great work Robbo and thanks for putting the effort in to organise!
Will try to make it back for next week.

Might need some different tactics on the climb, especially with the crazy long descent and flat(ish) run into the line!

I'll lose more time on that climb than I'll spend on the descent let alone be able to make back on it. And I'm fairly sure Kelvin has put the thick end of 2.5mins into me on just the WKG mini crit in Innsbruck so without the big hill & descent.

Anyone any idea how to set up discord for this would be good to have verbal banter on way round. I know a good few groups do this but ive no it skills. Just an idea

For sure I can't be going as hard next week or I'll die on the climb...its all about the pacing and saving something for the leg snapper in the city.

At least I know whose wheel I need to try and keep hold of next time.

Unfortunately I missed it, was cutting it fine for time and then by Zwift refused to log in for a few minutes.
I managed to ride join the course and ride through on TT bike and see some people racing, looked like people were having fun 🙂

Wow, just seen the results, genuinely shocked. I thought I must have done okay finishing joint 12th but really surprised, a reasonable handicap helped and pbs on the course tonight as well.

It’s probably all down hill from here as that course is ideal for me with chances to recover and draft on the flat and no long climbs so I can muster some short surges on the rollers. I don’t normally like to spend so long in the mid 180hr but what doesn’t kill you and all that.

If we are doing the big hill of Innsbruck I’ll struggle to be mid pack I’m sure.

We could just use the TTT discord, it's already set up?

Discord would be a disaster with 50 odd folks. Only takes one person to not be on mute and the amount of grunting and panting will make it sound like an 80s porn movie..

Besides..if you have time for banter you aren't trying hard enough!!😂

Wasn’t me with the Irish flag… i caught OGG for a bit, then caught the chap with the Irish flag 900m from the line… tried making a sprint finish but was too early and tired, and he nipped past just before the line! Bravo chap!

DrP

Think that was me D.Fee, was watching you get closer and closer for the last 4km, always about 12 secs between us, was really pushing myself to stay ahead but just didn't have enough so when you passed tucked in behind for the draft and tried to go with you on the sprint. As you said, managed to sneak past before the line. Good fun in a strange kind of a way. Great way to push yourself harder.

As I suspected I had a race of 1 due to my technical incompetence causing me to start late. I Averaged 24.1mph, over the 26km I ended up doing according to Strava, oh well next time. Despite being heavy I quite like the climbs, something to push against.
