I'm in for tonight... felt good in the legs, and cold gone, on Sunday hills.... then spent the whole of yesterday with legs like jelly again... doh....
Taking it easy on my chores today to be ready for tonight..
Also... the effing cold has killed my appetite and I've lost ANOTHER kg... down to 69 now...
I think with the 100 day challenge, trying to put back on muscle lost due to broken wrist, and starting 'race fit' for these, I should have given more thought to my nutrition strategy....
I think 4 or 5 smaller meals/snacks would suit me better....

another poorly conceived period of preparation for tonight. A 4500ft climbing mtb ride on sunday followed by a hilly track above Settle yesterday as made for some very tight hamstrings and wooden legs this morning. Will try to grab a short flat walk earlier and have 15 minute leg spin before the race to try and loosen up a bit.
On the plus side my cold seems to have slowly diminished so bring on Harrogate.
50/50 I’m going to have to miss next week so maybe my swan song.
I'll be joining in tonight.
Did an undulating 65km on Sunday (think it was about 1100m climbing) and was painting fences on Sat & Sun, so my legs are still a bit achy.
But, it will be good to give them a workout! Weather is a bit of a shocker here today, so it seems like a justified use of jumping on the bike in the garage!
Might even only be a one fan evening...
Zwift/WTRL racing league details released, launches Oct 13
I only read this far
aimed at recognizing Indoor Cycling as a sport in its own right.
Seriously?
why not? Personally I don't see any downsides with people being able to take it more seriously, if they want. Plus it's WAY less stupid than speed-climbing, which is now an Olympic event for some reason 😂 (Altho probably a debate for another thread!!)Seriously?
back on topic: really looking forward to tonight, even though it's probably one of my least favourite courses to race... loads of little kickers to sprint up & no proper downs to grab a few seconds recovery!
I'm still planning to be in tonight as long as work doesn't throw in a curve ball later. Being a Yorkshireman (although now on the wrong side of the Pennines) it would be rude not to.
Not expecting much as I struggle on this course, I plan to grab a group and hold on as long as possible. No MTB tactics to save me tonight 😉
Ooh yeah...aero bike... climbing bike...or all rounder...?!
DrP
All rounder....sooooo...TRON! 😉
Bog standard beginners zwift road bike for me tonight. Might change its colour to see if that makes me faster 😉
Ooh yeah…aero bike… climbing bike…or all rounder…?!
I've got an SL7 in the virtual garage for these types of races. It's the bestest of all worlds according to the big S.
Oh man, the thought of missing this is killing me, but I'm so so far from ready.
Don't do it Weeksy!!! Stay away from the turbo!! Would like you to join but it's not worth throwing yourself backwards.
I'll be on my SL7 too...
I've an Emonda that I bring out for climbs up the Alpe, but the SL7 is
a)cheap
b)a good all rounder
c)purple/pink.
That's the fastest colour...

hurty leg has put me out of this one. Not sure what I've done but have hardly been on a bike this week 🙁
Enjoy folks!
Just purchased a new frame and wheels for the event. Hope i bought the right size 🤔
Hmm... had zwift crash twice setting up.. it's such a dodgy programme isn't it..
Plus won't link to my trainer..ffs...
Anyway... if you want to see me get angry at the zwift drop out.... click Here for the twitch stream..
DrP
Tonight sounds like its going to be a right comedy of errors 🤣🤣
Might get points for just turning up...
Mines updating.... I've prepared by eating too much too late, a six day work week and an actual race on Sunday.
Should be a stellar performance. Luckily I've got some beer in for recovery.
I'm feeling shot still... so pre loading on caffeine high5.... that would have backfired if zwift didn't work and i just frantically played xbox till 3am....

Is he new?!
Jesus that was tough...
Just re watching the twitch.... 500+ w from the off it too much for me!
Kirky and I got together after the big boys split after 6km.... trading places all the way, and he just pipped me to the post after a mistimed sprint DOWN the hill!
Legs so much better than last week, but empty now!
Felt sick most of the way! Bravo to to front bunch!

Ouch, that hurt again. Fast guys be fast from the start again so I decided to be sensible and not go all in from the start. Picked up a couple of other Celts and we kept track of the pack and slowly wound in a few that had been shelled. Nice group broke up as we started the reverse lap and from then on I was hunting the group down as well as I could. The steep climb was awful but allowed me to start to bridge back to Present which I was able to finish off on the last rise at the same time as dropping the guys I was with then it was all in trying not to let Ivan get a full 30s on me. I think I kept it to 29s.
Going for a lie down now.
Well that was better without the brake rubbing. Couldn't catch oop North though.
Not the most enjoyable that one..
Every climb I get to I seemed to get spat out back in first 10 seconds despite putting out max effort, then gradually working my way back up and through the group as climb progresses. Maybe everyone else is going full wack at start of a climb and I can't keep up but it feels more like some kind of lag in zwift recognising my power output.
Tough race either way. Myself and Phil were first over the first climb, then we both sat up and were passed on the descent. I don't know about him but I almost broke myself spending the next mile well over ftp trying to get back on.
Also what's with the really steep climb 5km from the end. Given I don't have a working front mech on the turbo bike I almost had to climb off as I struggled to get up it..😥
Oh..kom and sprinters jerseys. That's new!
I was happy with my effort. Started ok, slowly faded to another solo effort to the line 🤪.
The new bike was the best thing I've ever bought with sweat drops.
Blue tooth dropped out couple of miles from the finish all that effort for nothing ,
that was bloody hard.
Bloody hell that was full on from the off.
Found myself at the pointy end around the first circuit until the sprint banner. I was thinking "this can't be right, I shouldn't be here", then the fast group went and that was that.
Good group of 5 around the forward circuit which broke when we hit the climb, I felt strong so went for it and managed to get away, kept out until the sprint banner and then slowed to let Robbo back on cos I didn't fancy a TT on the reverse loop.
Again felt good on the climb, I've not gone that fast up both climbs before! Was just 3 of us holding the next group by 30 seconds, all going well until we hit that steep bugger and the chain jumped off the block and got wedged. I had to jump off and free it, and put it back on. Lost 30 seconds.
After that it was TT to keep the others behind from catching up.
Great race..felt hard but manageable, annoyed at the chain loss but it happens.
Great choice again Robbo! I love these races they really force me to push harder than normal zwift races.
Well done all
Great choice again Robbo! I love these races they really force me to push harder than normal zwift races.
Absolutely, Once I'd caught Matt I could have rolled in but I knew that I had 30s handicap to Ivan and I was bouncing between 29-30s behind so had to go all in on the last couple of Km to keep it under 30s.
How are we doing on donations at the moment BTW?
Good effort everyone! I struggled round that, think I've got the lurgy that's been going round. I'm just going for the participation medal, hopefully I'll be more competitive in the second series.
Was it just me that thought Crazy Harry's winning move, attacking on the final steep climb, was pretty much identical to Alaphilippe's winning effort on Sunday!
And like on Sunday I though he ain't holding on till the finish! Strong effort to keep away from the pack I must say.
I was pleased that I didn't see the lead group at the half way loop, I knew I was doing ok (for me) at that point.
Great group at the front. Thought it was on for a split at the half way climb, but I’m guessing Harrogate allows the heavier riders (like me) to regroup quickly on the descents. Interesting sprint finish..S.avoyad came out of nowhere to pip me for 2nd (well, photo finish at least 😜) Oh,and that penultimate climb is an absolute bastard.
Cheers again Robbo.
Paino
After losing the back of the fast group when the pace really picked up A. Atkinson and I did about a lap of through and off before being caught by C.Hudson & Pewsey.
I think Hudson lost the pace on one of the climbs then Pewsey kept rolling off the front on the climbs making Atkinson and myself close back up.
Eventually it was just me getting distanced by Peswsy on the slight climbs then working to pull it back. Knowing I was likely to get dropped at some point I decided to go all in on the wall - a dubious decision for a 100kg "rouleur". Anyway, 6w/kg+ and a feather power-up at the base got me clear and then it was TT home.
There was someone (Edit - Osborne I think?) 12 seconds or so ahead but I couldn't close the gap and was concerned that Pewsey, Hudson and Atkinson were closing again.
No idea of the final results but I definitely felt better than last week when I didn't even finish!
That was tough. Stupidly forgot about the race and ate my dinner half an hour before. Regretted it seriously when stomach started complaining after 5k. Probably didn’t affect my race other than discomfort. Dropped by lead group after about 5k. Formed a group of 4 (with ndej, rolo and zilog). Rolo dropped us and zilog fell a wee bit behind a few k from finish - it ended in some tactical games and a final sprint with ndeh - ndeh definitely played the game better but I just held him off in the end with a hard sprint. I found it pretty tough, and think I’m still a bit under the weather.
OK so another great race tonight – damn that was a really tough course! Why did some idiot put that on the schedule?!
So the fastest 3 on the road tonight were:
1. Crazyharry
2. Savoyad & eat_more_cheese
3. Mossimus
A Category
1. Crazyharry
2. Phil56
3. Tpbiker
B Category
1. Eat_more_cheese & savoyad
2. Mossimus
3. W00dster
C Category
1. Kirky72
2. Robbo1234biking
3. Oop north
With the handicap applied the winners tonight were:
1. Savoyad
2. W00dster
3. J-R
Which leaves the top of the table as follows:
1. Kirky72 (222 points)
2. W00dster (208 points)
3. Tpbiker (187 points)
There are still 6 riders who could possibly win the championship going into the last round.
Full results here (results are provisional in case I have made a cock up!)
Wow that was a hectic start. Found myself much further forward than the quality of my legs deserved.
Was in a small group of 5 with oopnorth and got dropped on that first timed climb.
Got over taken.
Joined a small group. Got dropped.
Got over taken.
Joined a group of two others (Atkinson and H I think). Clung on. Got dropped.
Then did a solo sprint finish just because.
Had to go stand outside for a bit after.
That's a really tough course. That climb about 22k in.... Oh my days
Steve Scott
You were doing well Steve, sorry about the first climb but I wanted to test everyone! 😉
I enjoyed that one - dissapointed that oopnorth got away on that climb! The 3 of us in that group held on pretty well after that I think - lots of little attacks on every climb it felt like. I saved my feather for the last climb hoping to get a gap on straightliner - I got the gap but the hill went on for ages and I lost the gap again as I crawled over the peak. Managed to catch on the downhill but nothing left in the legs for the sprint!
On to Paris next week for champagne and sprints!
There was someone 12 seconds or so ahead but I couldn’t close the gap and was concerned that Pewsey, Hudson and Atkinson were closing again.
I think that was me. Was working hard to keep a gap behind, everytime I saw it drop I stood up and pushed hard.
5 points. Worst result so far, but suspect that’s only because I missed the Innsbruck climby one. Never mind, it’s the taking part that counts!! Thanks again Robbo. Great race. Looking forward to when we do another properly flat one!

It was, I've just seen it on my strava image - you were definitely so close but so far!
Another cracking ride (well, evil as well) with some strong performances. Ended up with Robbo and OopNorth until OopNorth decided to put out too much power and break his bike. That left Robbo and I to roll through to the finish, although he tried some cheeky sandbagging just after the top of the nasty hill posting a “that was unpleasant” message and then laying down the power! 😉
Thanks again everyone, it does make Tuesday night quite fun.
