Took the Ibis Tranny for a ride round Cragg today. It's just about the most flowy trail in the UK. So much fun, and the great thing is that when you've ridden it once, you can just go round again.

The link route will be going ahead sometime this year. It will go from the top of Le Quarry over the moor and up to Rooley Moor Road (Mary Townely Loop). In itself it will make a great descent in to the top of Lee Quarry.

Did 3 laps of it today. Great fun, and uses the terrain in the Quarry very well. It pissed it down on me all the way round though ๐Ÿ™

I linked it back to Lee Quarry with a cheeky path over the moors from RMR.

I'll be up for it, I live on booth road so i'll go down cat steps and cart on up Rooley Moor Road as per stumpyjons route.

Its a great view over cowpe that way as well

That route up behind the pub on the PBW will be a massive push for us mere mortals

It's a big hill but we have mountain bikes.....which can easily be push bikes ๐Ÿ™‚

My 12 year old is coming and he'll be pushing so no one will be lonely at the back.

Thanks Ed, that really isn't helping, Nial's already a better rider than I'm ever likely to be ๐Ÿ˜†

Everyone else, I'll be at the back, looking at the view (probably my breakfast).

I had a ride up there today to gps the route out so I can make some maps and signage (another tough day at work!). Its dry and fast at the moment and its getting better all the time with a bit of use. Hill going up from the Buck is steeper than I remember it I had to push ๐Ÿ˜ณ it was fun on the way back down though. Ranger Bill has had a lot of the ruts filled in on the hill so its much more usable than it was a couple of months back.

Once we get Cragg and Lee linked its going to make an excellent few hours riding.

Met the landlord from the Buck today he's going to come out on the ride with us on Saturday.

Don't forget Brownbacks racing at Lee Quarry 30th May still time to enter!

www.brownbacksracing.co.uk ๐Ÿ˜‰

online entry here

http://www.xcracer.com/raceentry/index.php?series_id=15

best venue, low cost "just for fun" racing, great prizes, raising money for local good causes

no licence required (just a bike and a helmet, see the rules for the rest)

enter and join the fun (or even help us run it!)

Likely.

Brownbacks - interesting to read that in the rules, nudity leads to disqualification. Shame.

Had a good ride up there last night with some of the volunteer Rangers and a couple of others. It took us about half an hour to get up the Mary Towneley from the Buck Inn, with a mixture of riding, pushing and chatting. To get back down took about 8.5 seconds! Nice Timothy Taylors Landlord in the pub after as well.

Should be a jolly day on Saturday and it looks like we'll have a good sized group along from far and wide.

Am still expecting to join in from the pub car park.

If I can get my a** out of bed early enough I'll have dabble at Lee Q before...
...maybe.

Cheers
Paul

we stole that from the HTN rulebook, we figured there must be a reason for it!

The path to Top of Leach is the Pennine Bridleway. Follow that up and to the left and you go through the quarry.

Went up today, got utterly soaked, but enjoyed it. Only managed one lap though, so, so wet..

Anybody going tomorrow want a random selection of MBUK's that are cluttering up the place? Mostly recent ones.

I've got some Good news and bad news.

Bad news is that I can't make the ride today:-(

good news is that my missus gave birth to a baby boy at 3:45 this morning!!

He is a couple of week early but I don't care 'cos I'm the proudest man in the world.

Hope you all have a good ride.

Well that was superb, the new trails really flow well. Fantastic berms, short climbs, really steep drops, all pretty smooth. What an excellent set of trails and a nice bunch of people to ride them with to boot. All topped off with a lovelly pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord, onion & steak baguette and a plate of chips in the Buck Inn at Cowpe. And I got home before the 1 cm hail stones started coming down, don't think some of the others were so lucky. For those of you asking about the route up to the quarry, here's a map. The blue route is the legal bridleway (but is a b*gger of a climb), the red is a cheeky route using a few hundred yards of footpath although people ride it fairly regularly.

Gutted I arrived late but good to hear you all enjoyed the beer, I was sorely tempted but glad I got my priorities right & stayed up there. Trail is fantastic, flows great and gets better with every circuit - see what you mean by addictive now, I had a ball! Huge thanks and appreciation to all involved in the project, you've played a blinder! Up there till 6ish & got away with just a few spots of rain although the wind got up later. Be up there again very soon methinks... Hope to cross paths again.
ps: sincere apologies to the guy who's eye I nearly took out with my lighter. I found it after doin another lap!

Thanks to the organisers! Was great to meet a few STWers on the hill.

It is a cracking venue to get a workout and some flow. Mainly the former in my case!

Hope to meet up again...
...cheers Paul

Wasn't out on the trails but doing the 'sitting in cafes drinking coffee' thing in HB for a few hours and only saw one person ride past! NEVER seen it that quiet!

Some excellent photos there guys, even got some of me looking like I can ride. So you didn't get a massive hail storm in the quarry about four oclock, must've just been Weir then ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

No hail up there... are you sure it wasn't just on your house? ๐Ÿ˜‰ apart from a few drops and the wind later on it was perfect. Already doin chores to get the brownie points up for an afternoon pass to do it again soon. Top trail. Good pics ppl, I took some but with no riders you don't get the scale of the drops etc. Good stuff!

It would indeed appear it was just my house, the hail came down down so hard the decking was completely covered. Mind you been caught in a similar hail storm up in Cragg quarry before now, wonderfull Rossendale micro climates.
