Took me a while to put that post together, so Pook has posted in the meantime! I'm OK with the Ladybower suggestion.

not the same meeting place, and it's a vast amount shorter than the last one. But parts of it will be the same.
Meet here at 10am: http://www.multimap.com/s/g4F7enwM

I've got to admit and thinking about some of the posts above- I had two days struggling in the snow last weekend. It was a challenge but Im not sure I could face another day of it.

On this route (any of the locals?/people who rode over the past two days)- is it clearish? I was hoping (wishing) that it'd had thawed significantly over a week ๐Ÿ™

LOL LOL LOL!!! You all bottled it then!!!

No seriously I think it's wise, I think the Ladybower loop will still be challenging cos its gonna be very wet!!

I normally park my car at Hetherdene CP so prob see you all at 10am!

I haven't got any kids to get from school tomorrow so no need to rush - I can now enjoy a pint & chip butty in the pub now!

PS we got 2 GREAT descents to look forward to!

I'm pretty sure theres no parking where the map link goes to? Do you mean the one round the corner nearer to the bridge across the resevior (ie to the east)?

I'll not be making this. I have plans elsewhere tomorrow
(For some reason I had it in my head this was Sunday? Just me being thick)
Hope the rides a good one

Almost bang on where the map is there's a huge layby with normally a burger van in it. We will be there at 10. Hanging round til about quarter past then setting off! Should be a really quite fantastic ride with those who are coming. Hope to see many of you there

Mmmmmmmmm burgers.

It better still be a pootle, ok? ๐Ÿ˜€

I'm still coming. Look out for a Peugeot 207SW hire car driven by a fat dipstick with a Pitch. That'll be me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Name badges still needed all! Forum name then real name. Don't stick a packing label to your head though. We did that to my grandad while playing the name game on xmas day and he's still got the scar!

OK, the urge to meet some real STWers has overwhelmed the desire to avoid nasty wet slush-drifts. I will be there (provided I get the kids in bed in time to actually put my bike back together).

Popocatapetl, Podge - probably easier to get the train to Bamford rather than Edale, it's en route rather than a massive detour

I think we'll give it a go, if it's crappy conditions I know my way well enough to lead a splinter group back to the cars

That's the spirit that makes this ride special. My wife actually giggled when I told her the ride was called Peaks Pootle. Pootle is not epic/long/too tiring/adventurous. There should be fun and laughter and cake.
She also said I could spend as much as I needed to be comfortable in the conditions. So I'm off to the land rover dealership before the ride - I'm sure that's what she meant. :-/

Was thinking -maybe the original route we planned- Edale/Cavedale then Beast would be better until Cut Gate is drier?

Or....a new one entirely. I'm cool.

hey guys, i got there this morning at 9am so was on my own......

jesus Derwent Edge was hilarious, i was waist deep in icy snow trying to get to whinestone le tor - then went down the other side and what i thought was a shallow puddle was a deep one - straight over the bars in a big puddle!! lol lol it was a soft landing but some people walking were terrified and thought i'd killed myself cos I was just lying in said puddle for a bit cos it was starting to get warm....... im ****ed now!
