Reading the 20th anniversary issue has put me in a reflective but somewhat downbeat mood 😞 Predictions for what the next 20 years holds for MTBing has made me realise I probably won’t be experiencing it as I’ll be 85 in twenty years time . As my wife pointed out rather helpfully I’ve had my go 🙄 . That’s true I’ve had some great experiences , ridden in some fantastic locations and met some really interesting folk . I guess all things come to an end but I’ve had my “ I’m not listening ears “ on for a long time . I remember in 2009 deciding not to listen to the specialist who told me to never ride off road again and decide that if I could have another 10 years doing it I’d be happy . Trouble is human nature being such I want another 10 and another 10 !
The Pandemic has put a stop to my overseas adventures ( for now ? )which hasn’t helped and that darn clock is ticking down 🙄 .It’s made me see into the future and I guess the best I’ll be able to hope for is Quantocks Exmoor etc as long as the old carcass holds up , which is more than a lot of people are able to do I know . Oh well .
