[#1530104]

been ages since I set up a set of V brakes - going to drop one on the front of my bmx pub bike as right now it takes 150m to stop when going down a hill with both brakes full on (just have to hope no-one pulls out :D)

so - whats the difference between front and rear v brake calipers? They're sold as either from CRC - from memory setting them up they were uni-sided? but guess I'm wrong..

Cheers

Hugh

front rear on shimano v brakes is to do with the cable pipe exit angle.

What he said. Swap the noodle pipe things and you change it from a front to a rear...

I don't think the question was that bad! noodle angle - who'd know that??

I've got a plate to take my single fork mount to canti bolts. I have U brake on the back (no mounts for a V) but its crap, even locking the back wheel doesn't slow you down much round here (1 in 5 hills on my way to work)

thanks for the help!

H

Funny, ISTR the same thing on that Wales trip we did a few years back, and that was a different bike ๐Ÿ˜‰

They're the same, one brake noodle's 90 degrees and the other's a bit tighter - just depends on the cable routing. eg I guess you might use the tighter one if your front brake were on the front of the fork and the front brake lever was on the lhs of the bars.

shush you!

I'll probably pop a rear on it, as its wired up for a giro so I guess the extra angle will help it up the headtube
