Not for me, you understand, for my friend.

If he has a BB7 brake caliper like this:

is he right in thinking that it doesn't matter whether the fork he's mounting it to has an IS or a Post mount 'tab'? Or is he being thick?

If you - sorry, "he" - remove the IS to Post adapter, you can mount the brake directly to post mount forks. Leave the washers in place, but use a 20mm smaller rotor...

Pretty much all calipers are PM but forks are either PM or IS. The adaptor also has to be the right size for the rotor

but use a 20mm smaller rotor

unless the PM mounts on the fork are set for a 180mm rotor, not the 160mm IS standard.

Ah, okay, so if he wants to use the same (160mm) rotor, then he'll need to buy an adaptor?

{edit} of course, the rotor on the picture is 180mm, so 160mm would be 20mm less than that, so it would work. He really is a bit of a thicko, ahem.

Be a bloody stupid fork manufacturer who mandated a 180mm minimum rotor but yes, your point is valid

He really is a bit of a thicko, ahem.

Yes, well, give him a slap then and tell him he owes me a pint 😉
