Let's hear it for stuff that just gets on with it. Perhaps not flashy perhaps even not designed with cycling in mind but you use anyway. Mine are clothes

Endura MT500 Lycra
Sidi Dominators
Troy Lee XC full finger gloves

Hope Pro2 hubs

You having a laff? The bearings are crap, the freehubs get damaged and the pawl springs break! XCs are more reliable, they only snap axles.

+1 for Magura brakes though.

And Mavic 717s

Clearly you've never tried taking apart an old Sierra rear axle.

Funnily enough my pawl springs broke last weekend and the freehub is knackered.

Things that work - SLX front mech (double) been flawless so far.

Ahh

SRAM X-Gen front mechs

You can't get them anymore, I paid £5 for my last one about 3 years ago. It' seen thousands of miles of usage in all weathers and there is simply no play in it AT ALL. They are ugly, heavy and built like a tank!

Another vote here for Thompson seatposts

Also Stans Notubes Solution - just ride along blissfully unaware of the thorns in the tyres

Gobi saddles - I don't notice it which I guess makes it perfect

I guess another +1 for Thomson posts (but not stems)
another +1 for UN BB72 (and 105 cup+cone ca 1989 - mine's still going strong!)
Conti tubes (sod's law, I'll have my 1st flat in >1000km tomorrow).
Superstar sintered pads (again >1000km. maybe I need to brake more?)

Hope Pro2? yer having a laff right? (Really wanted to buy these, and buy British, but only cracked hubs and stuffed pawls/springs I've seen are Pro2's.)

Happy days. Got a steel frame in the bike racks in the basement and a package from Merlin on my desk with a new Thomson seatpost in it!

Based on the things on my 11 year old bike that I haven't needed to replace, I'm going to add Suntour XC Pro thumbshifters and LX front mechs

Also: UN72 Bottom Brackets. I only took it out because of some wierdo shimano spider that I meant I had to get a new chainset just because the middle ring was worn. still spins slick and smooth, definitely staying in the toolbox!

and Race Face XY seatposts. I'm only replacing it because I want to try life with layback.

Have to say my Hollywood bike rack for the back of the car. It was bought in 1997 and has done a ridiculous amount of service with no problems (touch wood!).

I think we can all agree on Thomson seatposts.

Chris King headsets. I know they are bling and expensive but they also deliver (unlike some other bling and expensive kit).

Fire XC Pro tyres (as long as 2.1 is wide enough for the purpose).

Salsa Quick Releases

A lot of people in my group swear by Charge Spoon saddles.

Good old fashioned handbuilt wheels with Wheelsmith spokes.

Spesh Stout hubs (both my 1997 and 2007 Stumpys have them and are going strong)
SRAM rear mechs (x-9 on about 6500 miles - only replaced the jockey wheels)
Thomson seatposts
Hope headsets, lights and skewers
So far Elixir CRs - totally dependable

At the lower end of the price scale (i.e. Mrs Mat's Rockhopper!)
Deore kit - totally bombproof
