Help please... I have a rear dt240 hub 142x12 through axle which I am trying to fit a XD Driver. Removed the end cap, now trying to pull the main body off and it will not budge, tried a gentle tap with still no joy.... Any quick tips other than trail to a bike store tomorrow?

Try putting a cassette on to give you a bit more leverage.
It should just pull straight off.
