[Closed] Stroudies (and local area) - who to build my wheels?

[#10059539]

So I have all I need (rims, hubs, spokes, nipples). My usual builder is away for the next two rounds of the XCO. Who would you recommend to build my wheels?

Yes I could do it myself, I've done a couple before, very slowly & they didn't fail. But these are nice wheels for my HT MTB that'll have a hard life & I'd like someone with experience to do it, properly.

Many thanks.

I wish I could help mate , but haven't found a reliable mechanic in the valleys since moving here 5 or so years ago.

I've bought wheels from Kinetic-1 in Stroud before and they're really good - made up to your spec, so assume they'll make them up for you.

Graham(?) at Slam69 in Gloucester built me a Hope/Mavic wheelset, and they were bob on for years. They're now gracing Stoner Jr's bike 🙂

Slam 69 build nice wheels and Graham is always very accommodating and help full.  Plus he is the Stroud side of Gloucester with easy parking.

Most recently I used the skillz of a mate near Devizes. Very good build but not ideal in terms of convenience (although that said, Pete Matthews built me some good road wheels and he’s up north). Prior to that was Graham F @ slam69, who did a very good build. Prior to that was Colin Gardner @ Total Fitness but I don’t know what happened to him. So locally, I’d be giving Graham a call if he’s still wheel building.

Pete (goz on here) @ Cheltenham Cycles if you venture that far north...

Pete @ Veloton in Tetbury might be a little easier for you to get to...

In either case, tell them I sent you they'll look after you (not that they wouldn't anyway, but you get what I mean)...

Or... Send me a parcel and I'll build em up, return em to you...

Cheers all, I've assembled them, gone with Pete @ Veloton, Tetbury for tension, true & dish. Slam 69 & Delta were runners up.
