It's undoubtedly a clever, elegant solution - although perhaps to a problem that has yet to be discovered - but the lack of gears and cost will be its downfall.

Very innovative though...

Not sure why you say it has a lack of gears, it's clear from the images that there is a gearing mechanism, and also stated in the text.

An interesting alternative to a chain, although I can't see it taking off personally.
