I think I will have answered my own question......but over time the elasticated straps with a velcro fastening on my Nukeproof knee/shin pads have stretched and now slip a bit when riding so the only option I can see is to take up the slack, sew it up, and therefore the remainder of the strap remains taught?
I can't see any other option, or is there?
Add more velcro...
They are big wide straps so trying to find the easiest option with my limited haberdashery skills, but yes that is a possibility. Thank you
I had this with some elbow pads that were always just a bit too loose. I folded the straps over on themselves and sewed them together. Went mad on it with loads and loads of stitches back and forward across it with fairly thick thread. So far so good.
I have a pair of dianese trail skins that have the same issue. I'd always worn the same pad on each leg ( strap joining on the outside of my legs ) but recently swapped legs so they join on the inside, if that makes sense, and they don't seem to slip any more, sounds daft but worth a try
Thank you, I best get the needle and thread out to nip up the slack.
I did the same thing on my Fox Titan sport jacket so now fits a lot more snugly.
It's usually a right sod to sew neatly hence my cheating and just adding more velcro.
I also find it helps after the velcro becomes less sticky or starts to curl at one end which is a pain when it catches on shorts...
