I have a stages power meter and a 820. Average watts and normalised power always seem to be reduced by approx 20w when uploaded to strava.

Any idea why? Different calculations using the same data? Shouldn't it be the same?

I have my Garmin set to factor out zero watts and had always assumed Strava doesn’t recognise that setting for whatever reason

Strava doesn't show Normalized Power, they also don't show any of the other 'standard' measures (TSS, IF) used across other training systems like Garmin, or Training Peaks. So the Strava average power (it shows as weighted average power on the screen) is probably their own algorithm. Depending on what values it uses in the algorithm, it may show higher or lower than the NP or average power shown in Garmin.

I find Garmin and Training Peaks show the same, whilst Strava is always off somewhere different...
