I know I know, its only a game but when you're pretty certain someone is driving around with their gps on a moped how do you 'flag' them? Where is the little button?

For instance:
http://app.strava.com/segments/1617547

Averaging 28.4mph up a 5% incline.

Go to his ride and click "flag ride" on the right hand side.

Well, that was quick - did someone flag it? As he's gone from the leaderboard now.... the only flag I found was about the segment being dangerous rather than cheating

Nobody should care enough to be annoyed about this.

Wellllll ๐Ÿ™‚ there maybe some link to a KOM....but I'm certainly not 'annoyed' or losing any sleep over the matter, its just not cricket.

If he was clever he'd have done it by a few mph and then laughed at me as I repeated slugged my guts out trying to best the time. Being nearly 10mph quicker was just a piss take unless a pro.

Moped's are old school.
Just stick your gpx file in my pat pending app, spec the time you want for a segment, and it automatically uploads you're new upgraded performance to strava ๐Ÿ˜€

I have the KOM for the mile of road leading away from Haldon trail centre carpark because I forgot to finish the ride before driving away. I loves it I do

Anything fast without a corresponding heart rate is iffy in my eyes.

Crikey...the Wiggins effect in full glory there...thanks to Wiggins success, everyone is now out to be top...and raising a flag is what us 'normal' riders need to do to get top dog? Wonder if this was considered as a measure of success for the Olympic legacy.

What does the kom give you, that you didn't have before? Apart from the feeling of not quite earning it properly? Said yourself 'unless a pro'...he just might be.

I am very proud of my KOM. I got it Saturday. Only four people have ever logged a ride on the trail in question, but I'm fastest, and that effectively makes me brilliant

It's just a laugh (or should be) but that doesn't mean that cheating is OK

Yeah, it's not okay. It's a nice social feature so people should be social with it.

Would this be a good time to ask what a KOM is ? ๐Ÿ˜•

Its all fun though .. if he used his push bike or his motor bike .. he still having a giggle because somebody is getting worked up about it.

Strava is a short term thing really. You cant take it too seriously.

I have this KOM .. been top now for quite a time too. 141 people have ridden it 247 times so its pretty popular ... but I was in a group of 5 riders to descend it that day .. and last but one to finish.
Lots of the fast guys dont use Strava..

That kind of thing might possibly expected from a six year old kicking over sandcastles on a beach, but it's a bit annoying when a group of people care just a little bit about something engaging but trivial, and some cock gets his kicks from spoiling it.

Its just a bit of fun, but that chap definitely was a cheat, he'd picked all the road type sections around southampton and smashed the KOM's by silly amounts.

At the end of the day as long as I'm faster than my buddies I don't mind - thats what counts ๐Ÿ™‚

I was overtaken by someone who was absolutely flying down Minch Moor yesterday, no I thought I was flying, but strava said "1 other" on the ride details..........

He did a whole frickin lap in under an hour! He did a whole lap in half the time it took me to swat my way upto the top!

I don't feel so bad as a bit of google stalking show's he's in the Elite's at DH, and I always knew DHers were fitter than people gave them credit for, but that speed is just insane! In context, if he was doing the DH trails he'd beat the uplift lorries (which manage 8 runs in 7.5 hours).

Worst bit is he was 2 seconds off KOM on minch moor, so I feel really bad even though I got off the trail ASAP it was probably 2 seconds!

... then again.
Alot of people may consider those getting worked up over Strava KOMs something of a cock.

If it upsets you that much. Why not race properly?

*sigh* not worked up, despite seeming attempts to provoke a reaction

and yep I do race, so I know how quick the elites are, can only imagine pros are even quicker again. This chap obviously isn't either of those, just a cheat on a moped.

Anyway pjm was on my road bike only went there as my mate was gloating he was quicker over a few pints the night before....

I reckon that Greig Brown must be cheating on Strava.

It's pretty easy in terms of my earlier analogy:

Building sandcastles: Each to their own, bit quirky, doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, can be fun, does nobody any harm.

Kicking down peoples' sandcastles because other people seem to be having fun doing it: Cock. Possibly sociopath. Probably no friends.

You beat me by 2sec but I was riding my 29er with knobblies. The time you matched was Jamie's. He rides a 28lb Santa Cruz FS with 2.4s. Jamie took a run down the slope whilst I came around the corner and then hit the gas.

I didn't think the time possible until I rode it the other day on my 29er HT. I accelerated up the hill and could only maintain / achieve 32kph. However I'm heavy at the moment at 17st 8lbs.

That is a seriously impressive time on a mountain bike... to be honest I've never raced that hill until I was goaded - so took the road bike to prove a point.

It was the morning after a stag do when I was off to pick up the car so reckon I could get a better time

Picked up KOM on slog hill on last nights evening ride, that wasn't on the roadie ๐Ÿ™‚

Reckon I'm going to have to get a 29er soon. Most of my fast times are on an old anthem x1

I'm sure when I looked that Greg Minaar the Fort Bill DH world cup record holder is beaten on some sections by some Strava devotees....

LOL.
there's someone got 45s over one of the 'quick guys' downhill on a fast, relatively open BW, nearly 2km, local to me. i've ridden with the KOM. he's pretty handy, but he ain't THAT quick. i'd take the strava numbers with a POS ( pinch of salt ) if it were me.

That willhub has smashed a few KOMs on my commute, maybe the 35mph ones dont look as suspect if he's got a lead out team for KOMs!

Sorry but there's already prior art ๐Ÿ˜‰

Was going to script a bit of bash and gpsbabel to rescale all my runs to slightly beat any new KoM. Play games with the local KoM hoover-upper, and keep giving him new targets to aim for ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Decided that by January, Strava will be "so last year", so just deleted the lot and moved on.

I've not really taken an interest in this up to now, but this morning I discovered a segment that starts at the end of my road..
It would be rude not to really..
I'd be very surprised if anyone had managed to take a scooter up this particular climb, although someone may have done it on a motocross bike I guess..

I'm off to embarrass myself a bit later today.. 8)

The strava cheats I loathe are the ones that cut new corners into tracks to save time.

I regularly stop my rides to put the largest logs and thorny bushes I can find across said shortcut, especially if it is blind.

Blimey, it's all a bit serious isn't it! Strava's a laugh, and pretty inaccurate on many devices. If your only doing a 2 min segment and getting a 25s (I've seen it, myself and mate on iPhone 4s's, me leading down a track i knew and he didn't, I pulled out a 40yard lead, he beat me by 25 secs on Strava...) error i your log, and you'll be fighting forever.

There is one guy around me who beats me so comprehensively its untrue though, I get second places all over the shop, he halves my time. The only way I can stay with an ounce of self respect is to assume he's on a m/x bike!

Absolutely it should be a bit of a laugh. Those roadies arguing about whether it's fair to do segments when you're fresh... words fail me.

I still think people who intentionally disrupt other people having a bit of a laugh are cocks.
