Can you track someone's ride on Strava as it happens? Can't see that you can but thought I'd ask in case I'm missing something.

Thought I should try and use something for night riding on my own so my wife knows where I am. I often choose a route last minute / as I go along - recent ride alone on the moors at night, I got to thinking how no one would have a clue where I was if there was an accident.

No. The new Garmin Edges have the ability to do that (not via Strava though AFAIK) though, or you need a dedicated tracker.

I don't know of one with Strava, but there is a "Find iphone" app where you can track your iphone from another apple device. I'm sure there's something similar for android too.

But she would be able to track you all the time not just on rides!

Map my ride has almost what you're after.

You can update Facebook and Twitter every x minutes/miles and it includes a map of your ride up until that point.

just a get a full GPS tracking system and get it intergrated into your bowels.

then she will know where you are when ever.

safe as houses.
