wyke in bradford is usually a reasonable place to look - sellers on gumtree and the bay located in that area

To be honest I don't know the timescale involved.

I thought I saw my stolen bike on Ebay about 6 months after it was nicked.

Sorry to say I think your chances of getting yours back are very slim.

Cheers Rockhopperbike, I'll keep a check.

Funky dunc, you're probably right but I'll keep the search going for a while just in case 🙂

If so and it's being riden, then chances it'll be spotted. I use the Asda in Wyke often.

Might be worth putting a wanted ad in the co op, chippies, etc...

I'll keep an eye out and spread the word, Odsal area.

Shame I'm currently not able to ride.

Also a good idea to call all the local LBSs and explain what's happened, ask them to keep an eye out for people with those bikes asking for resale value etc and if they don't look like they fit the bike.

Looks like Shredder has spotted the bike today and it certainly sounds like mine.
Been over today but didn't see it. If spotted please report to the police reference number 13130520925

Hi All,
A bit of a shocker from the insurance company, as they are only going to pay out less than 30% of bikes value, my fault for not specifing apparently. A bit of a tough and expensive lesson!
Which now makes it more important that I get these bikes back, so any further help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Be worth getting in touch with this Facebook group fieldy - based Baildon. If your bike's been seen in Thorpe Edge they'll be well placed I guess?

Cheers Woody2000 and Darrenspink.
I'm not asking for anyone to get involved trying to recover the bikes other than letting me or the police know if they are seen. Don't want anyone getting hurt.

Im in brighouse & will put the feelers out,not sure they would be local to u anymore pal.
They'll off been moved on out of town by now i guess.

This is becoming an organised crime people are watching you people sard following you home from afar.
Do not go to your house if the car behind u has been following u a while pull up first & let them **** off.
Do not clean bikes on show if poss do it in a back garden etc.
Always lock them & keep them indoors a garage will not do, if her indoors doesn't like it lock her in the garage instead & bring the bike in.
West Yorkshire is getting peppered with bikes been nicked & nearly all ive heard are stolen from shed or garage or locked up outside work .

Seems like organised crime, and Yorkshire appears to be getting hit bad.
One of mine is definitely near Thorpe Edge, Bradford as Shredder has seen it.
Need to work on a plan to recover it once it is in our sights??
And still, everyone is a suspect....

Was up that way at lunchtime and saw a shady character on a giant whilst holding a boardman presumably for a mate. He didn't look like the type to be riding around on best part of a grand of xc hardtail...

They are all over the areas regularly Brian.
Had a snoop round last night for you, will be in the same spots as last weekend this weekend.

fieldy - got a better picture of the Heckler? My mate lives Idle way and I want to send him a photo - he's not a bike so telling him to keep his eye out for a white Heckler doesn't really mean anything!

No idea fieldy - even if they did, how does your average policeman know a Halfords special from a grands worth of Giant?

Shredder I think I'll be over there myself this weekend!

Woody2000 asked some of my mates to see if they've got better pics...really need one with the Kashima shocks on. Blue bars, white grips, white saddle, reverb seat post,

Daveyboywonder there are some bike savvy cops, just don't know if they are in this specific area??

If I'm up there again I'll keep my eyes open. Don't venture up there often, usually just passing through is it Apperly Bridge etc? Went up for a curry for me dinner though so if I go up again I'll do a round about route and have a look.

I'll have a look around as well - just up the road from me.

I've asked my copper B-I-L too (he's a Leeds copper tho, not Bradford but he might get some idea as he lives round here too)

Good luck

well considering we have cctv and a padlock full of fingerprints after mine got stolen and the police not even bothering i doubt very much west yorkshires finest will be willing to do anything.

To be fair to the police its a crime that isn't worth their efforts due to the cps and ultimately because of the law.
If the police find and arrest someone who has a stolen bike. The cps would not want to take it to court so the police would have wasted their time. If the cps were to take it to court then the sentencing for theft of bicycle is pitiful so not worth the effort. .
For a bike thief in leeds who had 25 recorded stolen bikes in a lock up the cps didn't prosecute.

To be fair, the police have been quite good so far. The STW forum members have been better though!! However, as Sancho has mentioned, do the police really want to get involved if the culprit does not get charged?
But if I happened to find the bike and the person riding it is unwilling to let me have it back, and a 'struggle' ensues, who will be at fault in the eyes of the law?
Anyway if anyone sees the bike please get in touch.
