fancy some new wheels for theoske somethigna little lighter than what i have. They will be used for soem winter road riding and commuting and some cross riding and the odd race. So a mix of 25, and 28 mm road tyres as thats whats kicking around the garage (with tubes) and some 30 semi slicks and some 35mm cross tyres.
Anyone using the iron cross rims with road tyres and tubes had a real nightmare, looking on the web it does not recommend using them with road tyres and high pressure but is that only tubeless?
Or am i better just getting stans alpha 340 or 400's.
May be used tubelss with cross tyres hence stans rims for ease. Any other suggestions appreciated int eh 300 mark, the only other option i can see is the kinesis wheels v3 that look nice but are alittle heavier
cheers
Tyres blow off iron Cross's at about 60psi.
Try H plus Sons Archetypes or velocity a23's.
Hard to get anything smaller than 28mm on the iron cross rims.
On my CX bike i have Stans Alpha 400's with 28c tyres and a set of Crests with 35c CX tyres, both have worked fine.
I wanted exactly what you want. Didn't go for the Iron Cross for the reasons above. I was going to build on A2Z, but then found these and bought them. great deal.

by NoTubes_Pete ยป Thu Sep 26, 2013 9:40 amThe max pressure on the Iron Cross is 45psi. Going over you risk the tire blowing off.
To run both road and cross tires on the same rim the best rim to use is the Alpha 340.
