Stinger on my Marin Quake, which I suspect is worn, the reason I believe this s that the chain doesn't sound right on it and i have to manually put it in place. Do I need a brand new stinger or just a part?

Is the bearing seized?
Is it positioned right?

Check the backplate's not twisted and the bearings OK.
