I've found my lower cup headset bearing is seized (overenthusiastic bike washing, no doubt). On investigation it appears to have the steering limiting function ("block lock") built into the lower cup and crown race. The spec sheet for the bike says it is an Acros but Acros site only has steering limiter in the upper cup install.

Apart from that, spec is ZS44/ZS56. The lower cup bearing is deeply recessed up into the cup by ~8mm with the limiter mechanism occupying those 8mm and the crown race having the matching part indexed onto the crown via the little divot on the back of the Lyrik crown. Will try to get pictures this evening.

What have I got? Who made it? Not completely happy to replace like for like if it lasted just 1 month of Scottish weather (300kms).

I've got a question in with the bike manufacturer (Commencal) in case it is an OEM thing but wondering if the collective had insight.
