I have brought some forks off here and the steerer length isnt as long as i was expectin.
I have a thompson elite stem with ChirsKIng No threadset Headset and the top of the steerer tube sits 6mm bellow the very top of the stem. The forks are fox talas 36.
Is this much gap too much, they dont feel sketchy or wobbly.

I would never want run it below if I could help it, but I have done so as long as both the stem tightening bolts were below the top of the steerer tube.
Personally, I wouldn't risk it although it would probably be fine. CK headset have quite a hight stack height at 31.4m iirc. FSA XLII go for little money and will give you the necessary millimeters back.
both the stem tightening bolts are comfortably bellow the top of the steerer tube. As on the thompson stem they are low in the stem.
I'm not going to be doing any crazy huge drops with them,
