Would you buy a 1"1/8 straight steerer fork rather than a tapered if it saved you £300?
I've got the chance to buy a cheap set of brand new BOS devile TRC forks but there not tapered and I'm worried they will flex a little in my Specialized Enduro frame.
Any thoughts?

Yes,
They will be fine, if you notice the flex, its probaly in your head.
