I'm looking for a good value/ second hand steel tourer for a 6 month tour across Europe and into Asia.

Wanna buy my 80s Dawes Super Galaxy with a full set of Karrimor panniers for the retro vibe?

Well the Dawes Galaxy would be my default suggestion, I also noticed that the Edinburgh Bike Co Op had a tourer in their range for about £500 which might be worth a look.

The £500 Edinburgh Bike Coop tourer is aluminium. Though the Revolution Country Explorer is steel (plus has disc brakes) for £675.

For cheaper, the Raleigh Royal is steel and pretty good (though heavy), you could probably get one for about £400.

Thanks guys, definitely looking for steel just in case it needs to be welded. the revolution country explorer is something I'm interested in as the surly range are a little out my price range. Cheers again!

Check out the CTC classifieds, I found my Harry Hall frame there.

I probably built this up without the front wheel for about £350 using second hand parts from here, ebay and other classifieds.
