I’m looking to swap out my current 104bcd aluminium 30t narrow wide chainring, only got a few rides left on it judging by the thickness of the narrow teeth. Thinking going steel or even stainless this time around. Google searches comeback with e-bike rings.
Is there any difference for an acoustic bike?
104BCD is 104BCD, regardless of how the bike is powered.

Hmm, seems my only option for a 30tooth is from wolftooth. At £112 it’ll be another aluminium one for me.
The one on is a superstar ring, hasn’t lasted that long. But has gone through the worst winter I can remember.
Does it have to be 30t, would 32t do?
Uberbike do a 32t NW ring for £40.
Had mine on for nearly 18 months and it shows hardly any wear.

They're a 94mm BCD.
32t is the smallest standard chainring that will fit on 104. 30t has built in spacers to stop the chain catching on the chainset tabs.

I've got one. It's nice. It works. I've got a vague notion it's quieter than ally ones I've had, too.
For the price of some of the stainless ones you can get a raceface aeffect crankset and then use their steel chainrings.
You can get the SRAM 104 one in 34t usually but not anything more sensible
CRC have RF 30t rings for a tenner provided you don't mind purple or orange
Unite make great chain rings.
They're still narrow wide, but they've opted for a taller smother tooth profile than the Xsync1 style square tooth profile that everyone seems to use.
They run smoother, quieter, and wear better than the square edged stuff IMO.
Praxis do steel 104bcd narrow/wide chainrings, they come as std on Spesh e bikes
Brand new they can be had for £30 but i think the lowest they go to is 32T
Ok, looks like the Uberbike 32t is the one. I may as well replenish my brake pad stock while I’m at it.

I use Race Face direct mount 28t and 30t steel narrow wide fit MTBing, they seem indestructible and cheap.
Another +1 for the uberbike ring, excellent quality.
