[#9973236]

Weather forecast looks good for tomorrow and the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend. Anyone else going to spectate or compete.

With a bit of luck should be able to get some riding in Sunday and Monday along with some bike fettling.

I'm heading down with LittleMissHall to watch, as long as she behaves herself. Should be good fun

There's only one place to park so remember your 3 quid. As for spectating just follow the crowd into the woods and make some noise.

Full timetable is up on Pinkbike.

We're getting the bus up from town in a bit.

A weary Marshal 9 just got home after a solid 13 hours on my feet. Great to meet you Mike, and thanks for relieving me for a wee stop!

Along with Steathcat76, I was stationed either end of the "new" big gap. Highly stressful for most of the morning, as many, many, riders bit off far more than they could chew, and a good few hospital trips. Excellent work from mountain rescue. The afternoon was more relaxed as most riders had made their choice by then, although there were still a solid number of cases, even from the top boys and girls.

Great to see the old dog still has it in him!

What properly pissed me off though - within seconds of Peaty passing on his second run, the hordes of spectators had vanished. Leaving behind a metric ***ton of rubbish. Bottles, cans, broken plastic glasses, wet wipes, food wrappers, the works. Genuinely disgusted by the residents of Sheffield (and further abroad of course) who feel its perfectly acceptable to just throw their crap in the bushes in the middle of the woods and walk away from it. There were maybe half a dozen of us who worked solidly from, what, 6 o'clock, until well gone 8, doing nothing but litter picking on the lower half of the track. Un.Im.Pressed.

Get this a lot up there anyway.I last went up about a month ago and got to the carpark about 20 mins before my mate , myself and a dog walker spent 10 minutes or so just picking random rubbish up that was dumped there despite a bin being available.

A wave to Marshal's 8 & 9 good to meet you both there, I still have the words red flag 8 ringing in my ears! Went for a play on the track this morning and its all looking clean now thankfully!

I would also suggest that all those that had a great day think about waving some flags in the future, a slightly stressful day but very rewarding, hopefully back next year between the tapes and putting my rubbish in the bins 😉

Had a great time at my first one of these events - my wife loved it too, thanks to all involved.

We took our litter with us as we always do, mainly because I didn’t see anywhere to put it once we’d walked up from the bombhole. There was one bag on a tree at the little bar at the first gap jump but apart from that I didn’t see anything. Maybe some more litter points might help next time? Even if they don’t get emptied and they overflow at least all the mess is in one place.

We had to go after the first run so couldn’t help at the end for the cleanup - I would have challenged anyone dripping litter but while we were there I didn’t see anyone doing it.

Abigale is fine and riding in the Peak today. It was her first full on comp since she broke her collar bone messing about in the Wharncliffe side.

It was on the first timed run. Normally she would have gone all out on the second run but decided that the EWS next week was the priority.

Brought them up tough. Her only concern was to get back on and get a timed finish.

We went for a play in the Wharncliffe side this morning. Had some good runs and the trails were empty.

Another splendid day out, couldn't believe the litter at the end of the day though. The marshalls definitely earned their goody bags (as ever).

Great to hear she's ok!  That's the strength of those Sixth Element wheels proven then:

And the strength of Abigale too:

Sheffield is the worst city I been to for litter, the council seem to not bother about it on the northern side where us "lower orders"live. Very few rubbish/dog poo bins even in parks😡
