Thinking of changing my old steel 456 frame for a Ti one. I'm 5'10 (and a bit) and currently ride an 18" which is fine although I know I'm right on the borderline between 16 " and 18".
Are the Lynskey Ti frames exactly the same size as the steel ones or is their a bit of a difference?
Measure your effective toptube length, should be 600mm or so, check the measurement on the geometry on the on-one site.
From memory it looks the same.
I think they're the same or at least very similar.
Noticed no real size difference going from a 456 Summer Season to a 456 ti ( Lynskey version )
Same
You'll love the Lynskey frame!
From a habitual frame swapper, it's the only frame I've kept for more than a year and in fact owned since new.
Reviews are all true btw.
Cheers guys, two last q:
should I be OK on a 16"..... I'm a wheels on the ground guy!
Worth paying more for the braced version (only ever going to run a 160 on the back and as said above, I ain't rad but am 93kg)?
I'm 5'11 and was on a 18" non braced. Sold it on here - miss it.
I've loved the 456 for years - had a few (always regretted when I sold them!) and now run a Lynskey Ti456 as my only mountain bike. It's the absolute business - a riot - and has reignited my love of off road riding.
I'm just about 5' 11", definitely 'wheels on the ground' and just the wrong side of 13st. I have an 18" (same size as the steel ones I've had) and it's perfect. I run an 80mm stem, 760mm carbon Havoc bars and the tubeless wheels I got last weekend have transformed it even more for the better. Go for it!
I swapped from a 20" steel to a 20" Ti (the braced one), pretty much all the same size/angles with the exception of the seat-tube which was at a slightly different angle.
I only noticed as I straight swapped all components, and the saddle was at an odd angle.
tbh They're getting old now so you may be more limited with what's available rather than what you want and also the ones I've seen on ebay are going for the same price (£800) I paid for mine new.
But, 93kg and a 16" frame 😯
