[Closed] Started tweaking my bike, thought I'd share (danger orange five)

So I've owned my bike for a year and am at the point where I get semi itchy feet. Not itchy enough to buy a new bike but itchy enough to start messing.

Stuff done already is:
Easton havoc carbon bars
Podium point 1 pedals
Hope "matchmaker" kit to allow fitment of shifters and brakes on one mount.

Anyway, I've been running 2x10 for a while but wanted to go to 1x10 so ordered some bits:

SRAM xo carbon DH cranks
[IMG] [/IMG]

Hope bb and Gxp adapters
[IMG] [/IMG]

Mrp g2 chain guide
[IMG] [/IMG]

Renthal sr4 33t chain ring (can't believe how light this feels!)

So today I started fitting bits after getting a grease gun, new chain, bb tool and chain splitter.

After much cursing and swearing I got my pedals off my cranks, got the cranks off, front dérailleur off, old double bash off, and got the new bb in.

Because I am fitting SRAM cranks I had a hope bb and an adapter kit. The adapters hammered into the non drive side bearing. I managed to do this using a socket as I didn't have a special bearing tool.

Plenty of grease and the bb went in.

Nect up was the Mrp g2 guide. I've only got to the point of fitting one bolt as getting my pedals off took far too long.

Next steps are to finish this, then fit the renthal guide and SRAM xo cranks.

Note the shock is off the frame so I can get the right length chain sorted by checking the chain growth under rear arm movement.

Note the colour coordinated bb. (I am an orange five owner afteral!)

Anyway, just thought some people might be interested. I know it's an orange five so probably will go down like a lead balloon but I'm enjoying the tinkering etc.

Why did you take your pedals off?

Swapping cranks over so needed too, plus the Isis tool can't turn with pedals in.

Got the cranks fitted last night, and chain ring. Just need to sort the chain length then put the rest of the chain guide on now

Those Renthall chainrings do look lovely! I'm off to google why you need an adaptor kit with SRAM cranks and Hope BB now...

Some nice kit there. Nothing like fitting new bits and playing in the shed 🙂

Lol it's a double garage so that's just one half with a pile of actual stuff for the tip in the background. The other side is better.

And Gxp cranks screw in really tight so guessing the adapter is to stop pressure on the bearing case.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it'll still be a pig.

Your pressure washer hose is dangerously close to the mouth of your mower. Slitting the hose would not be good. I'd have a general tidy round when you get a minute.

Nice bike.

Happy rider - Hope BB is a HT2 size whereas SRAM is GXP. Hope provide a small metal shim for the BB to make GXP cranks fit.
Hooray for standardisation across brands -NOT!!

Yeah tidying the garage is next on the list, then I can get the floor painted and the strip lights fitted.

And yeah, orange five, ugly bike, filling cabinet, etc etc.

And because I know there is a lot of concern about my messy garage lol, this is the other half prior to painting the walls

Shouldn't you have painted the walls first?!

It's how I fitted everything in, then it came out and walls got painted, and ceiling.

Floor next, in grey resin
