Can you really run them tubeless using only one layer of the yellow rim tape? I just cant see how it can be strong enough to not burst at the spokes holes..

Yes - but you need the yellow strip rather than the sticky yellow rim tape

Yes. The tape I used was yellow and sticky but. Clear stuff from B&Q works too - but you have to cut it to width

yes - the tape is well strong and does not stretch

It does make inflating tyres harder than with rim strips though, they're baggier on the rims.

True, but once they're up, as long as the tyre bead is reasonably rubbery and smooth, the bead socket on Stan's rims seems to hold them nicely.
