Does anyone run these with a large volume tyre? sort of between 2.2 and 2.4 sizes? how does the rim make the profile of the tyre look and perform?

Considered a Flow or Ach rim instead? They are all spectacularly light compared to equivalents from other manufs.

I went for Arches for exactly that reason - not as light as the Olympic but not as heavy as an 819/719 either. Work really nicely with the 2.2/2.35s that I'm using.

The 355's look like they have a wider profile for lower weight too.

didn't notice that the 355s are the same width as the Archs for very similar weight to the Olympics. I might be sold on those then! just need to find the money to buy them now.

I have olympics, 355's and arches . The olympics struggle to take a 2.25 Nobby - it blows off the rim . 2.1 panaracer's are fine.
355's will take the 2.4 Mountain King.
Another rim to look at would be the Syncros AM ones at Stif . I have damaged 2 355's - one terminally with small bumps really , although I've not had a problem for a bit now.

Hope that helps.

+1 for the Arches. They give a similar, marginally wider profile than an old D521, seem to have similar strength thus far (I've had no dings/buckles/problems in a years hard riding) but weight a site less.

I've been using 2.4" mountain kings on olympics for about 4 months now.

Their internal rim diameter is 19mm, which is plently wide for a 2.3s and the 2.4MKs are pretty narrow.

Have 2.3" Speed King Supersonics on mine, profile is fine, makes it super quick on the acceleration

I run Flow rims and they're only about 460 grms. Very wide for the weight and take bigger tyres very well indeed. Makes your tyre feel like you've fitted the bigger size.

I used 2.25 Nics/Ralphs on Olympics for a couple of years without problems.

Olympics have a limit to tyre pressure for 2.2"+ tyres.

they print that on all their rims. The fatter the tyre, the lower the pressure.

It's on the NoTubes web site:
Maximum Tire Pressure
2.2 or larger 42psi
2.0 tire 45psi
1.5 tire 55psi
1.0 60psi

Swoosh- My info was slighly wrong as my Olympics have been running 2.25 Nobby's without problems. They blew off when trying to seat it not when up and running .
