Seem like cyclists are being overseen again... I got this in an email today and thought I'd share.More of a crusading email today. If any of you ride in the Peak, ever want to visit or just value our countryside, please can you help stop Derbyshire County Council completing some works which will completely resurface Stannage Long Causeway and wreck the local environment to boot.
Derbyshire County Council are currently totally resurfacing to a completely smooth road like level the Long Causeway at Stannage. All because a few 4x4's couldn't get through the rocks at the top. There has been no consultation, and it didn't need anywhere near this level of surfacing and intrusion to allow 4x4's to pass again (it's a Byway Open To All Traffic). Due to the scope of their works on the surface they're planning to replace the revetments that hold the road up at the top, only because of how much they're doing completely needlessly. It's totally out of character with the place, and the revetment work will wreck the local environment. To cap it all, this work is costing £250,000 of public money. Given I'm trying to raise £7,500 to build a little trail in the woods at Lady Cannings Plantation, I'm absolutely furious about this gross misuse of public money. Please, if you're even vaguely upset, bothered, annoyed by this, email a complaint demanding they cease work and hold a proper public consultation with all user groups.

Location is Stannage Causeway.
Rant over.

That was Cy's mail to the Cotic Mailing list if anyone was interested.
I've passed this on to cyclists I personally know already.
Who's actually complained to Derbyshire Council yet?
