[#1924584]

I had a crash on sunday and hve managed to take a chunk out of the stanchion of my Revelations ('07?).

What options are there for repairing a stanchion? I remember reading about using something like nail varnish to repair the dent and then buffing it up, but can't find anything.

yeah, sorry, the pictures aren't great, it's the best i can do with my phone. It is pretty deep, probably about 0.5 - 1 mm. Epoxy resin sounds like a good idea, i might even have some kicking around. Thanks.

Circular rubbing motion with the back of a spoon is surprisingly good for getting rid of any little burrs that might knick your seals.

A very sharp penknife can be useful to trim the sharp raised edges.

Personally I would be wary of those stanchions with such a deep gouge. They're barely 1.5mm thick.

Careful 'planing' with a stanley knife blade. Then a good clean with isopropyl alcohol. Fill with nail varnish or epoxy (trim the epoxy as it cures). Should be fine.

I'll ride 'em if you're wanting shot of 'em.

Back of a spoon then GENTLY and very lightly wet and dry sandpaper- we are talking the lightist of touches- patience.

Then gold nail vanish (from Superdrug value range) - revisit if need be with the wet and dry GENTLY
