I'm running some minions currently and quite impressed with them.

Understand they're halfway between the two you mention?

Swampthings +1 bit more draggy but clear well, supertackys A1 but soft - are we talking DH/FR?

Edit: as below though minions are good 🙂

you didn't say "muddy", so choose HR out of those two

I forgot to mention that they will mainly be used for dh, although I don't want to do for dual-ply (I already have dual-ply minions for 'proper' dh).

There will be mud involved, but the trails are more loamy than muddy.

Could go for ST Swampthing front and ST HR rear?

Minions or some cut down Wetscreams.

I have a mInion DH f ST 2.35 but was thinking about going to a swampthing as it seems to clog up a bit - its still ok though - not sure the swampthing will be a mega improvement.

Swampies are good in all but the worst conditions when only a wet scream will grip but i had the single ply swampthings and found the sidewalls pretty weak for dh duties and would only recommend the dual ply version.
