[#2443528]

Top day out on the Long Mynd very breezy which had an affect on some of the climbs, area was not that damp considering, Minton Batch was a blast.Only came across 3 other riders will be back for some more.
Carrot cake and the homemade sausage rolls were lush @ the National Trust cafe 😀
We were planning on visiting plush bikes but they were shut!

Wish you'd told me you were going, I'd have joined you. Let me know when your ridin' again.
And thanks again for the off piste guiding at the Chase 🙂

The Mynd looks great and I've never bin.

Wife is still grumpy with cracked shoulder though!

Single speed on the long mynd is impressive, all the riding there seems to be straight up a mountain then straight down the other side.

I love riding at the Long Mynd, it's definitely my favourite xc location 🙂 Wouldn't fancy it singlespeed though, I'd vom halfway up each climb 😆

btw there's a new CRC marathon this year in Shropshire, featuring Minton Batch I believe. Just signed myself up for it!

Good work. I'd have been impressed if you had got up that section you are all pushing on. In fact that was my first ever bit of techincal sessioning when i first started out mtbing(coming downhill of course). A nice little left hander with a few rocky steps. Happy days.

Good effort on the singlespeeds over the Mynd, rather you than me on such a windy day. Sorry we missed you, we do 10-2:30 on a Sunday so we get chance to ride in day light

Do you have a copy of your route? I've been over there a couple of times, don't recognise some of your photos. Good work on the SS, I struggle fully geared!

Nice pics Rich. I toyed with the idea of SSing the Mynd a while ago, but reckoned I'd have been walking most of the climbs! Hats off to you Sir!

Place was crawling (haha see what I did there) with Singlespeeders this weekend, bumped into a couple of fellas, one on an on one 29'er on Saturday and Sunday but didn't see your lot Rich (would have recognised you, we've met a couple of times at the Dyfi and HtN). I was helping run a bit of a company beast your colleagues training thing in preparation for the UK Challenge in June so was all over the place putting out and picking up orienteering punches, was bastard windy up there. Fantastic place to ride even if you do stick to the way marked routes 🙂

Be honest, what was the ratio of uphill walking to standing knee crunches?

Scruff/Stu honestly we rode most of it but it was brutal was longing for a 17t on there 😉
Bit of a mish mash of a route could have done with a local! So Plush hill will be up again for another bash about. It is very good riding any night rides going on?

Rich - was the second shot taken on the "other" side of the Mynd down at the south end of the ridge?

If it is was it as slippy as **** like I remember it?

Rich
The 3 guys you saw - at the top of the Forestey climb after Minton batch? that was us. I was just getting a call off the missus about the garden fence (a bit flatter than usual:-)
It was pretty brutal at times, but at one stage i ran out of gears going up hill, not little gears - BIG gears 42/11 up hill on the mynd!
Now thats what i call a tail wind!

""new CRC marathon this year in Shropshire, featuring Minton Batch I believe""

I hope not, MB has taken a real battering of late, 500 pairs of wheels on one wet day would do it no good at all.

Prob better off in the forestry by BM its not NT and has had Dh's and moto enduro events before.

Top work boys.
I've ridden there before with gears and that was hard in places, especially the road climb out of the carpark at the bottom of the batch.
Would like to try the singlespeed there but all my mates ride gears so not so much fun. Locally and racing at Thetford is ok and I can beat most of them on the singlespeed 😆

We will be heading out near to the new ‘Shropshire Hills Mountain Bike and Outdoor Pursuits Centre’ in Marshbrook - an area of outstanding natural beauty that boasts the longest single-track in Shropshire, possibly the longest in England.

I think it's fair to say that they don't mean Townsbrook or Ashes Hollow 🙁
