So whats good then? I have snapped my SRAM PC1 for the second time (in 2 outings) and I don't trust it anymore.

I've used the KMC Z510 for years, I believe cheapest place is Parker.
i've never snapped a gusset half link chain
or go for an anodised spank tweet tweet chain, look ace and stronger than a gorilla on PCP
I've been using a cheap SRAM for the last 3 years, no breaks. Do you use powerlinks or take a rivot out to remove the chain?
just buy something of same approxiamate value as the otehr bits. ie 20 quid's worth of FW, 20 quid's worth of front ring, spend 20 quid on a chain.
i use a white industries FW and a surly ring, so spend a bit more on a nice chain. YMMV.
