1) Anyone know if an XX1 spider fits on X9 or Truvativ AKA crank arms?
2) What is the difference between X9 and AKA cranks anyway?
3) Do the wide/narrow teeth make XX1 more prone to single ring chainsuck?
Cheers,
Andy
1) Nope - XX1 chainring has a different BCD (76mm) so you can change to any of the available ring options without having to remove the crank.
2) Dunno
3) Hmm, maybe.. but probably more than cancelled out by the clutch rear mech
1) YES as far as I know you can use the spider on X9 cranks...(I have a spider and 32t Chainring for sale BTW)
2) I have no idea-wondered that myself!
3) No chainsuck at all on any of the bikes i have ridden or ridden with but that may not be representative of the wider community use...

Oops, I mis-read that.. sounds like it would work!
@ratherbeintobago - did you get a resolution to this? I'm in a similar position - needing new chaingrings for my X9, thinking about going (back) to single chainring.
From what I can tell, the BCD for XX1 is different to X9, so chainrings won't work. Swapping the whole spider over seems to depend on whether your X9 cranks are GXP or press-fit - but maybe I'm wrong and X9 GXP and press-fit are the same?
