I am currently running a SRAM XX1 transmission and need to replace the worn cassette. I was looking to use this as an opportunity to upgrade to 12spd but am not certain what components I need to replace. I know along with the cassette I would need to replace the derailleur and shifter, but would I also need a new front chainring and new chain?
Chain yes, chainring no.
Good luck getting a 12speed cassette and chain....

I'm thinking about doing the opposite and going to 11sp. I've got a used setup that i'll be taking off if i do so, if it'd interest you.
11-50 cassette, I think it's a GX mech and shifter.
chain is within spec, cassette is OK too.
Main reason is, i like having matching components between mine and my lads bike, so his is 11sp and it would help if mine were too.

If you've a worn out cassette odds on your chain, chainring and maybe even jockey wheels need replacing.
