Hi folks ,
just new here so please be gentle with me hahahaha , i'm looking for a bit of advice on what would be a good replacement for my Sram X-7 9 speed short cage rear derailleur ? I can't find one anywhere and don't really know what would be the best replacement , i'm assuming the X-5 would be a step down ? I,ve seen a few X-9 medium cages so would that work or would i need to add links to chain or would it be good to go as it is or is there a better replacement i could use ?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated .

Cheers

Any Sram 9 speed derailleur will work fine. X5 will be similar to what you have and work just as well.

I think new 9sp from sram in the UK only goes up to X5 now. This is all the UK distributers list as available and has been for awhile.

As above though. X5 works fine. Nothing wrong with it.

Are you sure you have a short cage? Normally that was only done on 1x drivetrains, usually downhill bikes.
Most 2x or 3x need a mid or long cage.
You might also consider converting to a wide range 1x, Sunrace make a decent 11-40 if you can live with that gear spread. I have it on a kids fatbike and works great.
