[Closed] SRAM warranty direct?

I have a borked SRAM Rival shifter. Seems to be a common problem so hoping to have it swapped / fixed under the 2 year warranty. It was bought from the ebay store of a largish bike shop so I can't be bothered returning it through them.

Anyone had any joy dealing with a warranty issue directly with Fisher?

Fisher don't usually like that but any SRAM dealer should be able to handle it for you.

did it come cheap from the ebay shop?

Deal with them, it's their responsibility. However any should be able to....

Might have a word with my friendly LBS then, although was hoping to avoid that as it isn't very fair to them.

Cheaper than normal, but still brand new. I could deal with them but it seems a bit pointless sending it to the other end of the country to go to Fisher if I could have sent it directly. Ho hum.

I've heard of a couple of LBS who charge a fee for dealing with other peoples warranty claims to cover the costs. (This normally is covered when you buy it from them)

TBH the time difference in posting to who you got it from vs LBS will only be a few days.

Your warranty lies solely with the shop you bought it from, they made the money out of you so it's their job to sort you out, nobody else's.

Distributors generally don't like to deal direct as not having a trade account holder to deal with means they cannot charge or credit for any spares or work you may need and not having an account to attach claims to makes keeping track of returns much more difficult.

The fact that the shops generally filter out a significant proportion of the JRA crowd probably helps too.
