Hello all, I've just swapped the brakes on my Spesh Chisel from the stock Level T to a set of Guide RSCs I had in the spares box. I had to cut off the level hose at the olive to get it out through the frame, I've refitted the hose with a new red SRAM olive and screw in barb, but it won't tighten in the calliper, the nut is cinched up tight but the hose still rotates. The SRAM website suggests that these brakes use the standard olives but the evidence suggests otherwise (I should point out that I had hoped to get away with swapping the lever/callipers over and leaving the hose in situ but the fittings weren't the same, hadn't realised then that they seem to have different olives too)
Â
Has anyone had similar and can you point me at the correct fittings, I was hoping to sell the brakes on to cover the cost of some other planned upgrades, I'm not happy to do that until I know that the rear would be safe to use.
I’ve just fitted a pair of these exact brakes two months ago and shortened the hose using these olives and barbs.Â
Daft question but are you pushing the hose as far into the caliper as it will go and tightening?
Problem solved, I gotthe verniers out to measure the old and new olives, decided to take the hose back out and check it over, definitely user error, I hadn't screwed the olive down completely, so the barb was turning in the olive, fixed and now holding nice and tight.
