On the SRAM Eagle mech body, the pulley wheel for the gear cable is level with the top jockey wheel. As you shift into the small cog the cage moves across and instead of being stopped by the limiter screw, hits the gear cable guide on the mech body. If I wind in the limiter screw to the point where it stops this happening, it messes up the small cog gear change.

If I put a 1.6mm thick washer on the bolt that attaches the mech to the hanger (thus moving the mech away from the cassette by this amount), I get perfect shifting across the whole cassette.

It is a bit of a bodge though. Anyone had similar issues and found a better fix?

if you kept the spare links from your chain try adding a link and setting up again. The extra link will move the arm to a different position which should get you in the right place.

It isn't a chain length issue. I have varied this and it doesn't help.

There will be a correct chain length/b tension that works unless theres something other wrong with the set up - you have to find the spot where (assuming its an FS) in the workstand the cable guide sits in the cut out inside the arm in the bottom half if that makes sense at all... Of course its also possible that the bike is built out of spec, or maybe your cassette isnt fully wound on? Ive seen that before too - causing the cassette to be too wide so there's too much of the cable guide sitting in the mech arm, hence the need to space the mech out. Usually though the chain won't want to run on the 10T at all in that scenario although that would depend on the frame.

Sorry that last post should have read "It IS a chain length issue. Just stuck two more links in and it is sorted (I am sure I had tried that but clearly not).

Thanks Benpinnick
