I've not had any SRAM drivetrains on any of my bikes, not against them just inertia, better the devil you know, etc. tends to mean I use Shimano. So what's the ordering of drivetrains in the same way Shimano go XTR - XT - SLX - etc. ? Rough equivalents to their Shimano counterparts where applicable as well please.

https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/family/xx1#sm.0001ygsihinpjf0ry231qfknynk92

XX1/Eagle - No Shimano Equivalent

XO1/Eagle  - XTR

GX - XT

NX - Deore/SLX

There are some DH options in there too, there are not also directly overlapping either, all the weight stats and manufacturing materials are on the SRAM site too

Ta. Didn't expect there to be a one to one mapping. Not too bothered about weights unless one item is 200g and the equivalent is 500g, 10g is one splattering of mud 🙂

Yeah I'd look at cassette weight...

41g difference between XT 11-42 (435g) and GX-1150 11-42 (394g) - I'm sure that there are other comparisons with a greater difference, in fact the GX-1175 is 325g but then it's over double the price of the XT - £145 vs £57. Two cassettes from the same "family", I suppose you chose which one you wish to use for comparison depending on what you want to prove!

I'm not pro/anti either manufacturer, If I was considering a bike and it had SRAM rather than Shimano it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Getting things crossed here - the £145 was for the GX-1175 not the GX-1150. CRC which is where I was looking have the latter for £95

What ranking is GX eagle then?  XT with 12 speed?

Kryton, check the link above for the specs between 11 & 12 (I'd personally put it just above XT but thats just me)

If you only need 1x11, perhaps consider the xg50 cassette with XT shifter and mech. Seems the best of both worlds to me.

Where is best to get a gx cassette - xg1150. The cheapest I have found is bike discount.de. 86.57 euro, which is £75.83 posted. Anywhere cheaper

My current bike is the first all SRAM machine I've had. It's GX 11 speed and though I'm very happy with it, in terms of finish and build quality it seems more SLX than XT to me.

Good kit though, seems very reliable.

I really miss the index finger shifting of shimano.

I'd be interested in 1x10 if if would work out cheaper. But it doesn't.
