Hi , I have a set of code r on my mondraker foxy 2019. Currently the hose to my rear brake ( left hand side I'm in the UK) comes out of the frame on the left and I want to route it so it comes out on the right and goes around the headtube.

The brakes have stealth thingamajigs . can I just undo the fitting at the brake ,pass it through the frame and re-connect it without having to bleed the brake?

Not had SRAM brakes before so not sure what the function of the stealth thingamajig is and dont currently have a bleed kit for sram.

Thanks for any help

Have done this in the past without needing a bleed;-
Take the brake pads out and pump the pistons out a bit, (but not too far or they'll pop out!!)

Position lever so exit hose is pointing up as this will prevent any fluid dripping out. Next undo hose from lever, remove the red thingamajig, (it has an opposite thread), leaving the silver ferrule in end of hose and slip off nut and rubber shield that connects to lever. Now re-route hose as desired.

Now reassemble opposite to assembly and push pistons back in and re-install pads and you shouldn't need a bleed.

I'm not sure thats good advice from 100mph

The red stealthamajig are single use. when you tighten the hose nut it deforms and crimps the red stealthamajig onto the hose.
I'm not sure how you managed to simply unscrew it? You have to cut them off the hose and install a new one.

Disconnecting and reconnecting at the lever without a bleed almost certainly leads to spongey brake feel.

OP would be better paying for a bleed kit and following the sram guide on youtube.

The stealthamajig is in two parts, a silver 'hose barb' that screws into the end of the hose and then a red 'compression fitting' that has a reverse thread that screws onto the ferule. So the compression fitting will unscrew in a clockwise direction when dis-assembling.

Just fit a new compression fitting on re-assembly if the old one is deformed.

It doesn't unscrew once it's been deformed into the hose.

It's not possible to tighten the hose nut and not deform it.

Have you actually tried doing this?

The video doesn't show it being unscrewed off the hose either. Can you post a clip of your method? I'd like to see it.

I have three sets of codes on my bikes. I know what the stealthamajig is and how it works.

Following the correct bleed procedure makes more sense than what you suggest.
